I've seen kids in places like Africa, and South America, making their own guitars. Maybe you could organise it so those guitars get sent overseas.
People in other less fortunate countries, are crying out for musical instruments. I wish you well, you've a good heart.

Your local drug & alcohol rehabilitation facility.

The patients there could use a little escape into a memory of better times, and holding that guitar could just be their survival mechanism, for just a few minutes or an hour.

Guitars get broken at drug & alcohol rehab centers.
    Go figure.

I donate one every nine months or so to my local one.

    Good on ya, man!
Several people have mentioned orphanages, and that's a really great idea, except (at least in Texas) orphanages are VERY few and far between. Most kids without families (for whatever reason) go into the State system......and that usually means foster care. Foster care is big business to some people. The foster parents are paid by the state to care for kids, and often set up big houses with sort of dormitory-style bedrooms, to get as many kids as they can. I'm NOT saying the kids are mistreated, (not saying they aren't) but it is for profit.
To answer your question.....donate to public schools. That'll probably do the most good.
    And....THANKS!!!!!! ;)
