Good luck with your search and generosity. Find local music teachers maybe and see if they have any students that need one. Or maybe they know kids that want to be students without a guitar. Just a thought. Best wishes.

High school or middle school band teachers may have students interested in guitar but unable to afford one to try. (Yes, I do not mean marching band, but jazz band, and the teachers that can also teach guitar. :D)

+1 on schools, band teachers probably know kids who want to play.

Also maybe check with childrens' homes, lots of states have Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranches, etc.

    Great hobby you have!

I know it would probably get more used in schools and music schools,

but how about Orphanages? some kids might really want a guitar there, but wont really have a chance to get one, because who do they ask about it?

There might be someone there who is the next Steve Vai or BB king, but just dont have the chance at it at the moment..

I used to work on the psych unit at one, and I gave a cheap but fantastic Telecaster I worked on to a very very talented patient.

It was so greatly appreciated, it blows me away 13 yrs ltr.

A pickin’ buddy of mine has been doing mission in Honduras, going out into the bush, and teaching sustainable agriculture practices in remote villages. He always brings down an acoustic and strings to leave for the folks. They are very musical people.
I’m sure he would appreciate any acoustics. No electricity to spare there.

A VA hospital or schools is a great place to donate them.

I go through the fire department.
People usually donate toys for toddlers, but older kids and teens who have lost everything in a fire tend to get left out.

I gave a guitar to the local music shop ... they gave it to someone who was appreciative.
Good relations for the shop, good relations for me.

My city's libraries loan out donated musical instruments. Even bongos!
