That’s Lloyd Maines on the pedal steel. High, lonesome steel solo!!
Here’s one of his young’uns...
I like cowboy hats. I am not a cowboy and don’t really like horses. I do like the fact cowboy hats provide shade and keep your head warmer in the winter. I will do what works for me.
We're just back from a weekend in Harney County, which is steeped in the sad history of real cowboys and Indians, soldiers too.
My favorite cowboy song.
For beginners, it starts in D, F#m, G, A, then it modulates to E, Cm, A, B.
All the cowboys are long gone dead.
goes the chorus of a song i played.
I couldn't resist
They moved to Sweden
Another “not so real” cowboy song:
You have GOT TO have bullet proof ears to do this kind of research, masochist much?
All the real cowboys I ever met were Canadian.
Alberta and BC have lots of cattle ranchers.
I have a cousin who was a real cowboy, as well as a real horseboy, goatboy, and even sheepboy. Lives in Weatherford, TX......raised and wrangled all them until he decided to become a veterinarian.
At one point, he owned a highly prized Appaloosa stallion.
There's still little old me.
I wasn't game to post that one, as tempted as i was!
Edit: Think that's a more family friendly version to the one i remember!
My wife and I used to make fun of that song... it was a running joke with us for years. Thanks for reminding me of it. Heh.
I’ve got a friend living just outside Weatherford. (Previously in Morgan Mill, Granbury, and Stephenville). Point being, seems like lots of cowboys in that area. Wonder if it has anything to do with the rodeo school at Tarleton State. Did your cousin go to vet school at Tarleton?
My friend and Cousin both graduated from there, ironically enough my cousin is a horse racing reporter (hr ain’t no cowboy though)
I don't know where my cousin went to school.....I want to say A&M, but I'm not certain. His parents had a LOT of money (both deceased now) and he was an only child. He closed his practice several years ago, and his second wife and he spend most their time at shooting competitions and drinking beer......LOTS of beer.
