Where do you put 'foundation' pedals?

I just got a Joyo British Sound the other day (amazing little pedal) and was curious to know where you all put similar pedals in your chain.

So far, I've just been using it by itself at pretty low gain settings to Marshall up my AC15 instead of using it as a full-blown gain pedal.

I'd just run in the chain where you'd normally put a dirt pedal.

That's simple enough. After the compressor and before the modulation and delays.

I'd put it after your other comp/dirt/boost pedals and before your modulations and delays.

Agreed - I've read that concept is that you should treat it as an Amp, and only put things after it that you'd put in the effects loop of your amp. So delays, reverb, etc. all go after the "foundation".

Huh. Been wondering about this very thing lately...maybe I've been doing it wrong. Time to try arranging the board differently...see what happens.
