Do a bit of reading on this site. You'll find out how difficult it is to have a real celluloid pickguard. And how "off" the run of the mill "reproductions" really are. Genuine celluloid is simply not a easy as one might believe.

Btw, I have zero affiliation with this company. Just something I found in a search after reading this post.

One way to tell if it’s made of celluloid nitrate is whether it can be shipped ground only, with a steep hazmat surcharge. That second Fender one you linked to isn’t celluloid nitrate, I don’t think.

Spending two or three hundred bucks on a pickguard that will warp in the back seat of car on a hot day is buggered. There is a reason they are obsolete.

I'd advise against it...

Unless rust and corrosion due to outgassing is your thing.

This!

ETA:
Any suggestions on where I can buy a similar pickguard?
Lashing is the only source of cellulose nitrate pickguards that I am aware of...that is, the genuine cellulose nitrate from the same manufacturer used by Fender.

WD (https://www.wdmusic.com/wd-custom-pickguards.html ) lists something they call "Celluloid Material" but they do not disclose its composition...unlike the descriptions of the other pickguard material they use (PVC, Acrylic, Bakelite, and Carbon Fiber)...so I wouldn't expect that it is cellulose nitrate.

Full disclosure; I picked up a Lashing when they weren't so damn expensive. When the original pickguard on my 1964 Strat has shrunk to the point of being a detriment, the Lashing will take its place.

The thought of subjecting such a fine specimen to the humiliation of .... vinyl ... is simply too traumatic to contemplate!

Until then, it is stored in a controlled environment to minimize the affects that the passage of time and environmental conditions might have on it.

makes perfect sense for a preservation/restoration project.
