When I was a kid, we were supposed to have flying cars, and a bunch of other stuff; Where is it?

At some point those in charge decided it was better to get a quick buck and ruin the environment than to make things better for everyone.

TD, most of 'em can't even manage two dimensions adequately.
So yeah, no guts at all. They'd be spilled all over the ground within a week after someone on the cell phone descends right into ya. :p

I've seen guys in Porches make six lane changes to gain one car length on the 405!

You're typing this on a computer -- or possibly a tablet or smart phone that is capable of accessing the accumulated wisdom of mankind just with a few keystrokes. You have the potential access to all recorded music since Edison invented the wax cylinder. Those aforementioned cell phones and tablets contain within them devices that when used in an (admittedly non-flying) car will give you guided instructions on how to get to wherever you'd like to go. You can upload your music for anyone to hear. That music can be recorded on software inside your PC or tablet with audio manipulation technology that George Martin would have killed for in the 1960s. You can start a blog for anyone to read. You're on an Internet forum where you can discuss a relatively narrow topic (a particular type of solid body electric guitar) with thousands of fellow enthusiasts. The first computers I started with were an Altair 8080, and a TRS-80 with a dial-up modem, so I can attest that the amount of technological growth has been staggering. No sexy replicants or flying cars a la the 2019 of Blade Runner, but don't take for granted the technological progress of the last 45 years.

I only see that every day or so.
Those guys got a sense of entitlement to go along with their ride, that's for sure.

You're supposed to keep chasing the dragon (although you never actually catch it). Don't stop now .... you're so close.

I'm chiseling my future rock wheels as we write.;) My shaving horse will save me oodles of time forming the chassis. Plus my previous Ultra running experience will give me an advantage for longer distance traveling.:D

No flying cars, but I have a tiny computer in my pocket that has all of the information from the entire world in it. We also have picture phones!

I've got a long list of movies, books, and studies from the past that projected advances by certain decades. Devastatingly, we've not accomplished any, and are many decades behind. The single best examples that we've been running in place for 40 years, are the movies, books, and studies by agencies like Nasa from 40, 30, and even 20 years ago. It might be more truth than you can handle.
