When I was a kid, we were supposed to have flying cars, and a bunch of other stuff; Where is it?

When I was a kid, "they" whoever they is told us we'd have flying cars. A space station on the moon, to stop off at on our way to the other planets. They showed pictures of houses in the clouds on floating islands. No one would have to work because the robots would take care of all our needs.

My question is, where's the beef aunt Matilda? What happened? Did the Beatles steel it all? Was Pee Wee Herman in on it? Who stole the future? I thought for sure by now, I would just take a pill and I'd be young again. No not one of those damned blue pills, I mean something the would make me really feisty!

I wanna know if the Grinch who stole Christmas managed to steal the future?

Given the way people drive, do you really want them flying over your house? ;-)

When I was in school back in the...... well, a long time ago, a teacher told us when we were adults we would have a computer in every home. We all laughed. Now we have computers in every home and on our phones. By the way, the same teacher told me to quit staring out the window during class because I’ll never make money at it. Now I’m a truck driver.

No one stole the future from us. It just turned out to be unfathomably expensive. The space program was something only the government could afford and the government could only afford it if it brought in sufficient revenue. We didn't want that. The future @Toto'sDad describes can't be profitable so business won't make it and try to sell it to us. The plain simple fact of the matter is that we stole that particular vision of the future from ourselves.

All that stuff is in your dreams... and to have it come true, you must wait until you shuffle off this mortal coil...

Then, and only then, you will be able to fly to other planets as a ghostly apparition, and go wherever you choose....

... but it's lonely out in space...

    :lol::lol::lol:

Look at what we can do with our phones!

Besides the fact that it's a powerful phone, camera, music recorder, storage file, computer, and TDORI enabler ( I do EVERYTHING. and on a $70 Android)....

It still blows my mind ( I'm an Uber driver), that I have GPS that directs me anywhere AND a beautiful ( assuming) woman that lives inside my phone, telling me where to go!

While this kind of show is so much more popular than things like Science

We only seem to have one guy rooting for us to get to Mars.
Same guy is trying to fix the foreign oil dependence with electric cars and solar panels.
Same guy is building a tunneling machine that can be taken to Mars to build underground living environments.

    Why only one guy?

And yet .... we have a dangerously difficult time agreeing on proper fashion etiquette.

The truth is that in the 1950s there were so many products that came out of the war effort that people easily extrapolated how a singularly focused nation could continue to advance into the future.
We took our eyes off the ball and got distracted by ... rock 'n roll
