Or, more on topic, at what point does a guitar become a Partscaster? At a party/jam last night, we were sitting around talking about what we have done to our guitars. Some people did nothing while others had made several changes. One guy had changed everything except the body, so that was an easy call. Partscaster. The philosophical question is, where is the pickle line ? At what point do you stop calling it a Fender, and call it a Partscaster? This lead to quite the debate, and I wondered how you would call it.

I’d say it becomes a part-o-caster when either the body or neck is changed.
Pickup and hardware changes are just upgrades, IMO.

I would say that a legal Fender neck makes it a Fender.

Fender neck and Fender body still a Fender everything else is just interchangeable hardware starting with the strings though it can't be called original.
    IMO

I thought it's a guitar that was constructed of out parts, either new ones or old ones.

..but I'm sensing that's not what most people mean when they use the term.

Once the stickers come off and I play it, its mine. No longer matters what I call it. Including Sally.

If/When I go to sell it..... You can call it as you see it.

P.S. Easy on the garlic in the brine. It has a negative effect on the toanwoodz.

"When does a cucumber become a pickle?"

    When it's swollen?

    As for the guitar question:

Neck and body pair together makes a factory guitar, swap one or the other out and it's a partscaster.
Swap only the other parts and it's just modded.

If enough price difference between the body and a neck it becomes a fake.
MIM neck on a Squier body = fake MIM partscaster

Now ... I'm not going to comment on this particular pickle pairing and stacking arrangement as it might get a bit NSFW.

Well if that was the case... All of them would be "Partscasters"!

I'm tempted just to say 'yes' :D

I'm just going to rephrase my whole first comment.

"I thought it was a guitar that was originally constructed out of various parts by a player?"

and I've added a question mark at the end, because I don't know, it's not a phrase I use, I call my guitars 'guitars' or Katie and Lucy if you want to get personal. ;)

If the body or neck has been swapped out, it becomes a partcaster. Nothing else.
