That's why so many call centers originally were located in the Midwest, like in Omaha, Nebraska...because Midwesterners tend to have very little , if any, identifiable regional accent.

What ever happened to 'to be?' Increasingly, over the last 10 years I hear that the 'car needs washed" or some other phrase that just pulls me up short. Well, the car needs washing or needs to be washed, IMO, or at least as I remember being taught.

I've given up correcting people. Now let me get back to the kitchen. The ham needs cooked.

It’s not just a regional thing. I believe the English language is being slaughtered. I remember being scolded for saying ain’t! Are we old and out of touch?

My kids were laughing at a video where someone says "innit" as in "isn't it". I think it was kind of a cockney accent.

Speaking of local dialects, in HI, it's one odder language:

    The missing ingredient is consonants.
Every single one of those ts, ds, ps, etc should be pronounced.

I think you can blame it on the rap/hip-hop culture, and also the fact that kids no longer read, and can't spell or write well. Texting, too...worse than phonetics.

I live south of the Mason Dixon in the land of Dixie. What was your question again?
