Shakey's brings back some great childhood memories for me. In the 1960's pizza joints were rather new, here in the South anyway. So it was a big deal to go to the pizza parlor at age 8. It was very dark because of the wood paneling and they had colored class in the doors to the kitchen. My Dad would get a beer in a mug and we'd get Cokes. What is commonplace now, was a big deal to me at 8 years old. I marveled at the cheese and red pepper shakers. All of it was an exciting experience for a kid like me.
Now, pizza toppings come up from time to time around here. As much as I love pepperoni and sausage, it makes it a bit greasy. Ham never did it for me on a pie. These days it's mushrooms, onion and black olives for me. Ever had spinach on a pizza? It's Florentine, I think. Well, it's great. To wrap it up. I will eat just about anything on a pizza, except ham and pineapple. That combo is bogus.
