I love my bling'd up Rick 330 (ok, it's a stock standard FireGlo finish, but it really does glow), and if I had a lazy few grand I'd get a Lemon Drop Les Paul with a tiger stripe grain that pops til the cows come home.
However, as far as Teles are concerned, I reckon you can't beat a traditional Blackguard. There's just something so "right" about the way they look to me.

Are you kidding? Seeing Buck and the boys on my TV when I was a youngster really did it for me and sparklecasters. Bring 'em on! Didn't hurt that the banana seat on my Schwinn was purple sparkle.
There's very little that wouldn't look good with a big ol' handful of metal flake stirred into it... ;)

Same on the purple sparkle banana seat, but mine was from Western Auto.

I'd have to count myself in the Tele traditionalist crowd. However lately I've found myself browsing metal flake finished bodies with arm and tummy contours. I guess I've got a bunch of Teles and I'm looking to do something different with one of them.

Anyway, metal flake finishes - yea or nay? What comes to mind? Too country? Too flashy? Cool?

Maybe ok if I was playing a 20K seat arena - even then . . .

Regarding the Squier Bullet Teles...

Do Fender necks fit on those?

I don't know; if memory serves, there is some difference in neck pocket dimensions? Someone else will have a solid answer.

I'll add that the neck on my red sparkle Bullet is very nice, just polished the frets, that's it.

It’s odd to say. I’ve owned my share of Squiers and the neck is usually one of the best parts!

Well, since you asked - it makes what might be a fine instrument look like a child's toy.

Refinishing guitars is my hobby. Rustoleun rattlecan. These days I'm crazy bout glitter!! I have a bunch of guitars and of course they all look the same as all the guitars we see pictured in all the ads or all the forums. Never any change from one decade to the next. But glitter can be exaggerated or subtle as behooves me at the time of spraying. It's not difficult to do and it sure as H sets that guitar apart from the blah. I would not care to turn them ALL into glitter but, I do have plans for a gold, a black, a blue and we'll see what else. In glitter! Count me in.

Have you used or even seen the color-shifting clearcoat from Dupli-Color? Not easy to find, but it sure sets off a metalic color under it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplac...eed_ranking_signature":"1917502683468529664"}

I bought a Tele body on Ebay , turned out it was more sparkly than it appeared in the pictures . I was thinking more like a Gibby goldtop finish, but it was pretty sparkly . I made an Esquire out of it and although I never really cared for the real sparkly finishes it has grown on me . It will probably be the only sparkly guitar in my collection though !!

Yup.

Ain't nuthin' too flashy fo' country. Have you seen the Nudie suits some a them dudes and chicks wore in the '50s, '60's and '70s?!

And some of them sparkly Teles Buck Owens and Don Rich played back in the day. Sparkle it up baby!

I say "YEA" . I have a silver flake Strat and several sparkle Te3les that I use in my concert performances.

I say YES! Been wanting to build a big silver metal flake like Kenny Vaughn’s.
