Agreed. I always thought that sunburst w/binding needed a RW board, until I saw this video...classic!

I always liked dark colour with binding. The one I had made by Gordon Smiths is red with mock binding. I would go for a transparent black with mock binding, light pick guard, off white or mint green, ashtray bridge with 3 brass saddles.

I have 2 natural Teles, one more of a blonde and one more of a butterscotch. But I've always liked teal or maroon, even better with black binding or a burst finish that fades to black.

Mary Kaye, black or sunburst double bound with rosewood neck or sonic blue with rosewood neck. Of course a beat to hell butterscotch & blackguard.

Head over to reranch.com and look at their fender colors. I like the lake placid blue metallic with the faux yellowed-with-age clear coat (although not to the same greenish extent as the example in the gallery there), white guard and rosewood neck. Relic a few edges and there you have it. Actually planning to do my JS tele this way when I can find the time.

I don't have a favorite color, I have many favorite color schemes (color of body + color of pg + fretboard). But generally, I'm least attracted to most darker variations of blue or blue bursts, and to color schemes lacking contrast (e.g. white body, white pg, maple fb).

    This I dig:

I'll be honest my tele knowledge is very limited, i'm normally a strat man. Bought this as a loaded body for £50 with a rubbish neck. but thats why i'm here. Are they any good. Someone had converted it to a single pickup.

My favorite Tele colors? Well, I'm of the something simple/less is more school of thought you referred to in your OP. As for my own personal favorite, I'd say either this...

    (Bob Logan's Darkened Mahogany)

    ...or this...

    1. Honey Blonde (you can't beat the classics)
