Not the best showcase of EVH's guitar genius, but one of the best VH songs of all time.
Like all of the great legendary guitarists, Eddie has impeccable rhythm, it's really one of his most underrated qualities as a player.
House of pain:
When it ends, I usually hit repeat.
Tie: Dance The Night Away/Jamie's Cryin'
Dance the Night Away.
Beat me to it with Humans Being. My absolute top fave VH song ever. Could listen to it endlessly! It just has everything - mean riff, brilliant soloing and the right moods.
Here’s probably my second. Not a lot of fans out there for this, but it blew my mind when I first saw/heard it, and was also my introduction to the Wolfie guitar!
Mean Street and Drop Dead Legs. Cradle will Rock and Unchained were cool for the guitar parts. I just didn’t like the lyrics on most VH. Forgot I’ll Wait.
I remember when 5150 came out when I was in 6th grade and how shocked I was. It was so different, but I really like Summer Nights on that album.
GREAT video, too!!!!
Outta Love Again, from VH 2. I like the ones that sound like the hot-s__t bar band they were at the beginning. Great performance from Roth on this one.
"Summer Nights" from _5150_.
Not a favorite of lots of people, but I love that guitar sound.
My favorite right now is "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love." But I've always loved his guitar work on this one.
aint talk bout love
i mean if the minutemen and the mighty mighty bosstones covered it...its gotta be great
My favorites have all been mentioned...Drop Dead Legs, Panama, Ain't Talking Bout Love.
A sleeper Sam Halen/Van Hagar song I've always liked and actually covered in my old band (one of the few VH tunes I can pull off) is Finish What Ya Started.
How about the acoustic eruption, Spanish fly? I always feel like the playing takes off like a bird in flight when he starts the tapping. Always pretty impressed by it.
Unchained, then Little Guitars. I've also always loved Mean Street and Ain't Talking Bout Love. That intro on ATBL is fire.
In terms of albums, Fair Warning is their best. That first side is incredible
Gotta add "Somebody Get Me a Doctor" to my list. Forgot about that one! What a killer riff and an iconic solo. I just learned the solo this morning - long time since a copied someone else's solo note for note, but it seemed appropriate to learn some "Eddie"
My favorite EVH solo is in the song, When Push Comes to Shove. That solo is perfect to me in every way as is the song. To this day when someone asks me if it feels cold in here I will follow up with, "whats there to do tonight, anything?"
