Theres alot of threads on what speaker recommendations for a given application so i figured id start a thread and find out whats players favorite speaker to swap or build with
Ive tried quite a few thru the years but now days with my guitar choice and music style i have an ear for Celestion Vintage 30’s and Creambacks,,i seem to get the nice bright cleans with nice full mids and bottom end
So for a speaker upgrade my 10” Champion, vintage 30,the Princeton has a 12” super 65,the Hot Rod has a pair of Creambacks, and just to mix it up i have a 2x10 close back with square magnet Jensins that beleave it or not is really a full deep sounding cabinet
Blah blah blah,,,,so whats your goto aftermarket speaker of choice?

I think it's pretty amp and rig oriented. But for my single speaker Fenders, the Emi GA SC 64 is the holy grail for me.

There is no single one for everything...just doesn't exist. Most of my cabs hold Altec-Lansing 417-8C speakers, but really, I think I just like alnico speakers so that would be my favorite types. The V30's are a good jack of all trades speaker and is never a bad choice, same goes for the Texas Heat or any number of others out there. Just so many good choices these days. For me, give me alnico.

They are all different and I like them for different reasons, but if I had to choose one, it would probably be the Eminence 1028k.

No EXACT model, but I generally prefer "traditional" Jensen style speakers, like Fender always used. I even like Eminence versions of Jensens in my Vox amps.....not that I HATE Celestions, just like the Jensens better.
I often come across recent Fender Special Designs fairly cheap, and I try to snap them up!

So many speaker that I haven't tried...

What has worked for me are:

10s: Greenback 10s and Emi Redcoat Ramrods
12s: For Fenders, I like Vintage 30s, for Brit type amps I like Greenbacks, G12H30s, Emi Redcoat Pvt Jacks, and lately I've been digging Scumbacks in Brit and Tweed circuits.

That's not to say that I haven't had good results with other speakers.

It really depends on the amp and the speaker size, but I have Emi 1028Ks in three different amps. I guess that says something.

Celestion Alnico Blue. No contest really. At least for the amps and sounds I like best.

I'm loving the Emi SC64 Alessandro speaker in my Superchamp - it's ceramic and I'm an alnico guy.

I look at Eminence first as I've been very happy with the different models. Private Jack in a Marshall 4210 combo - brilliant.

I agree with others that speakers are generally pretty amp-oriented, but I really like these so far, out of all the speakers I've tried:

Tweed Deluxe Speed Shop A12Q in 5e3 or clone thereof
Eminence JS-1250 in Deluxe Reverb or Princeton Reverb
Eminence 1028k or the older paper former version in any amp requiring a 10" speaker

Speakers that I don't have in any amps at the moment but that I really enjoy:

    Eminence The Copperhead
    Eminence RF-10C

I like the Jensen MOD range. I had a 1x10" with a MOD 10-35, my Cub has a MOD 10-70 and my 2x10" has a pair of MOD 10-50 fitted. They're not for everyone, but I like them.
The Jensen Jet Falcon 12" is rather good too.
