Mine is 3rd. Still a lot of torque but also an exhilarating climb up the power band.

    How about you?

I’m a first gear kinda guy- I really like getting things moving, without stalling.

For the office it's collar and tie - most other times it's Jeans and a casual shirt.

I like the lever to the left double downshift in my BMW. You hit just below the power peak with plenty of torque. The gear you drop into depends on the speed you’re going.

Speed matching a down shift into 3rd when cresting a curve with a simultaneous throttle twist is a blast!

City/small hill towns in Italy: 2nd. Very versatile
Highway/country: 6th. Never knew it existed until my co-pilot and navigations officer (daughter) pointed it out halfway thru the trip.

Second. The drop from first into second, to be exact.

If I had to get around in only one gear, it would be third. The car can get rolling from there if needed, and can get me up to city street speeds (25-35 MPH) without revving too high.

Depends on the bike. DR650s have a supposedly weak 3rd gear, so i tend to baby it, but on my mountain bike 3rd in the back on the big sprocket up front is a good all- arounder.
