That's rather like asking a parent "which is you favorite child?"
But o.k. assuming you put a gun to my head and said "CHOOSE!" I'd go for a nice blonde maple-cap from the 60's :)

..and just to take advantage of the opportunity here's something on my current wishlist..

Not really a Tele, but La Cabronita. They're gorgeous.

Without a doubt my favorite is the one with 6 strings!

I'm not sure I want to change my answer (a real '52 or '53 Tele, or current FMIC production model Deluxe Blackout Telecaster), but I just remembered that I forgot the Rosewood Tele.

Actually there is one 5 string tele where the phrase "from my cold dead hands" would apply, but it's current owner refuses to die and let alone let go of it :D

    My modified Affinity Tele

I love mine. It plays and sounds wonderful and I like the colour. And last but not least, I did a lot of work on it to modify it.

As far as what's available today, the CS Nocaster is my fave by a long shot..

To me this is the most iconic Telecaster (1959 -1964), closely followed by an original Blackguard (1950 - 1954).

Give me a sunburst with body binding. Maple neck. Nickel covered humbuggie at the neck. White pickguard. I'm a very happy man.

    Many things to consider

From aesthetic viewpoint, it`s clearly 3TSB white bound body model, like a 62 Custom or CVC.
But a BSB has something special in it`s looks. Can it be one can not forget it`s the most original look from 1950-52, and it demands unconscious respect?
Then there is rare wood Teles like my Old Growth Tele-bration, and George Harrison`s rosewood one. But those has to be seen real close to be enjoyed fully.

Right now I'd have to say the Jerry Donahue Tele is my favorite. I thought the neck on the '69 Thinline was the best, but then I got my hands on a JD. The double bound body & Strat neck pickup are icing on the cake.

    Indonesian Squier Standard w/Rosewood Fretboard.

    I've gone 180 degrees!!!
My Friends how I went so long without a Modern Bridge I will never know.
And it's true I like having a 22nd Fret too.

Now I've been told that The American Standard is a better Instrument.
BUT in my Bang For The Buck Universe there's nuthin' that comes close to a slightly used Indonesian Squier Standard.
A new one with free chipping can be had for 229 dolla Madison if "new" is your thing.
That Modern C Shape and Medium Jumbos with their "rolled edge feel" (how did They do that?) was the final straw for me.

Eventually I'd like to get the other three Standard offerings with Rosewood Boards to keep Indonesia Red company but there's no hurry as I'm already thoroughly satisfied.
Indonesia Red is one mighty fine Telecaster.

    * I always forget - don't forget to string these with 11's.
