Maybe you heard it 1,000 times as a kid, like I did.
Maybe, but it definitely was not played at my house... perhaps a commercial or something.
That could have easily been used in a cartoon like Tom and Jerry
Searching through YouTube, I found Al Hirt's recording, which is definitely the one I remember. He was local, so it probably did get used on TV a lot.
My dad’s a big brass player/enthusiast , knew it right off the bat, he says written by Leroy Anderson!
...ok, polka on meth, maybe. More fun with lederhosen?
@memorex for the win. I came back to this thread, as I found myself humming that melody after reading / playing it earlier today.
Chances are, I played that piece in school and just don't remember it.
It is miles away from my kind of music, but it IS catchy.
I know, right?
The Gomer Pyle theme song maybe?...
Nah, memorex nailed it as "Bugler's Holiday", but it does bear a passing resemblance to Hogan's Heroes.
I was thinking some sort of tv theme... or part of it...
Gaaaa! I still have that tune stuck in my head!
Nah, we figured it out; it's "Radar Love" by Golden Earring.
It went ..da da da da da da da da....I may have heard it before but it sounds like something else.
I read music but there's too little to go on.
to definitely recognise it.
It's c major ( no sharps or flats shown and each bar is in 4/4 time. That's all I can say. If that guy's Dad recognised it strait away he' s a genius from such a small ( 4 bars) sample.
@micpoc - that tune is still stuck in my head this morning. Thanks for that. I only played the video clip for about 10 seconds too; that tune burrowed into my brain and stuck quickly.
I definitely think I've played that back when I was in school.
I can read music, just not for guitar. I was humming it to myself way too slow.
