Hi Gang - I'm just getting into pedal building, and my son-in-law, former DIY nerd and player, gave me an IKEA bag of his bits&pieces to fool around with. Among these were some completed clone projects: a Ghost Echo, and a Fender Blender with volume pot problems, and this here thing I show below:

It's got a Mudbunny (©2010) board and a glot of other stuf I don't yet follow, but the thing is, it works!

What I'm looking for is some sort of labeled front panel for the thing, so I can get a clue how to use it. Anybody recognize enough to poont me towards a solution?

Thanks in advance -

Big Muff with lots of switchable components. You'll have to trace it and compare to the schematic to figure out what the additional controls do.

Yah, I got that far...just heard from my son-in-law, and indeed it's his own mix. He'll dig around in his notes tonight to see if he's got a roadmap, and meanwhile I can learn to trace. Good luck with that.

Still waiting around for my son-in-law to get back from his away gig & find me the road map for this little hybrid, feeling a little bored and antsy to get on widdit, I suggested in a txt that we dub it StudMuffin. He tho't it appropriate, and was a little amazed that nobody's already used the name. Uhh, well, a search turns up data to the contrary, but hey: this is a one-off, it's staying in my damn gig bag and used by my damn self, I can call it wot I want. Right? I doubt I'll be traveling in atmospheres where guys're gonna look at my gear and ask questions or nothin'.

Looks like the switches change out different values of caps and resistors, which I would assume affect the gain and tone. With extra knobs I would think there are more eq options than the standard muff.

Mudbunny is a madbean board for the muff. If he's got resistor value changes, it's probably to change it from one version to another.

Here's the mudbunny board link:

Still waiting for my son-in-law to get un-stranded in Mexico City, but as I look further at this, and compare with some of the recipes in the Mudbunny .pdf, it's becoming clearer that bigandtall here prolly has the truth of it. (Hey, Dude, I'm in B'klyn too! How ya doon?!) But I want to talk with Karl a bit before I trust my eyes; he made it, he can talk about it a lot faster than I can puzzle it out.

Keep in mind, guys, you're talking with a total dork here: all this is spanking new to me. But I am astounding myself by finding schematics &c. actually readable and understandable, and that diagnosing and testing actually yields positive results! I figure one of these days I'll have learned enough that the terms you're all so conversant with here will set comfortably in my/i] head as well. Working at it.

And thanks for your help.

Where are you in BK? I'm in park slope.

If you really wanted to get into it, here's a link to the muff spreadsheet that has side by side value comparisons with many if not most of the popular variations:

B&T: see PM.

Thanks for the spreadsheet: I will understand this stuff one day, I see how the data can work with the stuff it's about - I just gotta absorb and utilize. Hey, this stuf is cool! Haven't felt this excited since - wull, since I realized I could actually learn to play an instrument well. Only that was a long, long time ago, and the instrument wasn't guitar. Yup, a loooong time.
