What's the difference between these 2 'standard' Tele wiring schemes?

In the course of rewiring my Tele I often came across these 2 wiring schemes that are often described as factory/standard. I'm no whiz but I notice the capacitor is wired differently on them and I was wondering if anyone can explain the difference and how they came about? Thanks in advance.

One leg of the cap needs to go to earth, it doesn't matter at which point....

As stated above, and usually the bottom one is common as being you have to ground that volume terminal as well, you kill two birds with one stone there.

    AKA, solder conservation

    .

    If you're modding/building ... look into a 4-way switch.

Thanks for the advice. Will be doing just that once my 4-way switch arrives :)

I took apart my Tele for a respray so had to unsolder the pups.
