What's the cheapest guitar strap you've had that was actually any good?

I have a wide leather guitar strap from Wrangler of all companies that I found at Wal-Mart for $1.50. It works quite nicely with my big semi-hollow.

When i was about 16 I went to a local motorcycle leathers making place with a couple of buckles and two ends from some cheap, ugly nylon straps.

He whipped me up a couple of leather straps right in front of my eyes and they have been on my main gigging guitars for over 30 years now.

    He charged me a £1

Here is one on my ‘64 Casino.

I've owned a bunch of cheap ones that did the job but the cheapest one I've had that I really liked was about $35. It was a padded, faux alligator skin one. Actually, it was made in China so who knows what it really was. I left it on a Chinese Epi Paul that I traded for another guitar. The main reason I traded them was because they were made in China.

Anyway, I have three other straps that I really like and they're the ones I use now. All are padded and cost between $40-$100 at the time I bought them. The oldest I've had for about 17 years.

30 euro's or so, well built, 10 + years no complaints at all

The only strap I have. I had them throw in a strap and cable when I bought a new guitar once. Probable cost less than 10 bucks. Black nylon web, like a tie down, with leather ends and a good quality buckle. Had it for about 15 years now and still trustworthy.

I don’t know what this is, but it’s my favorite and I have one in my Tele here + my number 1 flattop. Just a plain fairly soft ~2” leather strap. I think they were about $10 years ago at a guitar shop. IMG_7562.JPG

Thank you , I made it as an experiment, because, my 78, lefty strat was outrageously priced and i thought i could make one for much cheaper and I did, plus I wanted a body through hard tail, ebony neck bone nut schecter tuners and reflex red dot active pickups plus a 0-6-12 DB preamp on the first pick up it plays really well,
the pewter lady on the bout was one I gave my mother many, many years ago and when she passed I got it back so it went on the upper bout of the guitar

    Mostly Levy's.
I've got a nice padded one that I use at home, and then each guitar has its own nylon/leather 2" in the case.

I have one just like that. I bought it in 1995 because it was the cheapest, decent strap in the store. Still using it today.

    .

Cheapest is the waist bands I cut from two pair of worn out jeans headed for the bin.
Button holes over the guitar strap buttons, three safety pins lash the ends together to set the length and a safety pin cinches tight against the strap button to lock it on. Goes with my bar-band dual P90 guitar.

I bought a half dozen Fender Tweed Straps when MF had them for about $4 each. They're comfortable, inexpensive, and easily replaced if one wears out.

Off topic, but I actually have a Jerry Garcia tie in my collection somewhere.

I found this brand on Amazon advertising padded leather straps for $12. I bit. I'm dumbfounded by the quality. I went back & bought 2 more they're so nice. Might need to condition them a bit more, but no biggie.

To the OP-What's the max length on those $2.99 straps?

I too have the same strap as the OP, but mine is in blue suede, also from the 'bay, also $2.99 shipped. Wondered how color fast the dye would be, but after a year of playing it hasn't stained any shirts yet. But the inner layer is not dyed.
