He was hungry as a jackal.
He coulda ate a pterodac'l.
The odds were good, but the goods were odd,
The roughest path’s the finer treasure.
It’s a gift to give to forgive your gods
Let your heart feel earthly pleasure.
To be old and wise, you must first be young and stupid.
I’ve been volunteering at a soup kitchen. Some of the old ladies are pretty tough on us newbies. I’m cool, I’ve got thick skin... I’ve been saying
“well, you can’t make an omelette without breaking some legs”
Our throats were hot, the beer was cold
Between big swallows, bigger stories told
An end-of-verse-two-lines for a song I've been working on:

don't think about her.
'I'd rather let my x-wife give me a root canal.'
Desolate alley echoing a Kerouac slapback
Desperate day of reckoning, it's gone, not coming back

An old one I wrote:
“I finally quit drinking ‘bout nine years ago,

A more recent one:
“Babe, put down that shotgun,

Ain't no vaccine for stupid...
Can't repeat it on this forum.
I'd rather have fun and get in trouble than not have fun.
I wouldn't analyze her
Her words stung like sanitizer
2-0-18, the year began
I kept to the woods with decisions at hand
Snow slid quiet underfoot, but time was tickin' like a bomb
Then the phone call came to say goodbye to my Mom
And I was on the road
Reminds me of:
That salesman said, "Drink Canada Dry!"
But I can't, no matter how hard I try.
