Pedalboard.

This is the essentials. I take the same rig to every electric guitar gig no matter what style of music I’m playing. This will cover anything I ever need to do.

With one exception- if I need to be really quiet I take my Line 6 Catalyst instead of the Budda. But I use the same guitar and pedals. I do sometimes use my backup guitar, which is my Strat. If I haven’t had time to change strings from the night before and the Strat has fresh ones.

My Strat or my Tele or my Les Paul or my SGJ.

Toss a coin.
I can live with any of them.

Plugged into my pedal board, and then into the PA Mixer and out to the mains.

Boom.
Rock and roll.
:)

This is the rig, preferably with the addition of the Strymon Lex. Middle position sound almost as good as my favorite in this configuration, but considerably lighter as it’s a semi-hollow. Clean, check (guitar volume rolled back). Edge of breakup, check (guitar volume at 10). Overdriven, check (lead “channel”). And kick in the leslie for some added emphasis when needed.

i guess my Black 52 RI and any one of the amps loud enough to do the gig -
start with a 5G9 clone I made, bigger yet - 5E9 Clone I made, or after that - Bad Cat30 R, Mark Sampson made if it was a huge show; not likely to ever resurface. In the 80's and 90's all I ever used was a Twin - and a Tuner.... yikes
Depending on, a Fender Reverb Unit and a Bad Cat 2-Tone 12ax7 booster pedal - killer - tuner and I'm really happy!

Acoustically - Martin OM-28, Baggs DI, and a Headstock tuner. Capo and a Slide. Yanno, life is mostly pretty great!

I don’t gig out anymore, and I play by myself. This is what I use at work when they ask me to play. It’s all I need. I have a larger Loudbox when needed.

Peavey' Delta blues, Wampler ego, Spark boost, and a Timmy. That's all I run. I play in band that plays hard classic rock and blues, we even do a little Van Morrison and those 3 pedals get it all done. Rarely have em all on at the same time. The Wampler ego is only used with my tele and the spark boost is only for cleanish tone, and the Timmy by it self goes from crunch to face melt with just the guitar volume.

I can get it down to a low power amp, a gain pedal that pairs well with the specific amp, and an analog delay for slap echo if the amp doesn’t have reverb.

If I was running my Champ 600 I would definitely go with just Boss OS-1 (or an SD-1 to the same effect), my no-name analog delay, and nothing else. I’d want my 1x10” cabinet but I could do without it.

With my 6505 Mini Head, if I could get the relay problem fixed to where I could use a double footswitch for channel and the crunch switch, I could technically get away with no pedals at all, but I think I’d want my Fuzz Face or Muff OD just to have a second contrasting lead tone. And the clean channel on the 6505MH takes fuzz very well.

In either event if I had to narrow it down to one guitar for live it would be either my SSS strat, or my MiC Dot with a Phat Cat P-90 in the neck and stock ‘57 in the bridge. Either one gives me a single coil option which is what I prefer, but also has a way to cancel hum if the venue has a lot of badly shielded wiring.

I can't do "just a cord" yet, because my 2 favorite amps either require a gain pedal or a reverb pedal.

SO:

Tele + Swart AST + Kingsley Page (a tube boost pedal for a little more gain, instead of cranking amp)

Tele + Hot Cat (has 2 channels) + reverb pedal (Hot Cat has reverb, but it's not very good)

Guitar > fuzz > reverb > tuner > amp would do me, and I think it might be this…

for fuzzy, reverb laden, no compromises, rock and roll… and, you know, blues and stuff too.

Depends entirely on the scenario...

For playing and recording JUST my/my choice in music - AM Tele with Warmoth conversion neck, Carl Martin Comp/Limiter, Ibanez ADL, TM Twin

For gigs - whatever guitar suits my fancy that day, Ibanez UE400, Ibanez ADL, Quilter SB US, 112 cab
