I bought this fine specimen a year or so ago, guitar, gig bag, strap, tuner, picks, strings for $77 on the jungle website. How bad could it be, I thought? Pretty bad, as it turned out. I replaced the switch, string trees, nut, and bridge to get it reasonably playable. Luckily I had cheap parts in the bin, and I think that's as far as this one will go. I'm thinking donation...

My 2006 Roland PK-5A midi pedal controller.

I have this rig up on Reverb as of yesterday evening.

Haven't used it to do the 'one man band' thing in many years, so it must go.

I'm trying to repair broken cables. I recorded some chords in my looper, and it plays through a little amp. I'm going from end to end of the cable bending and flexing, searching for an internal break. If I hear noise, then maybe I found the location of the break.

Sigh - I started playing it again this afternoon, and now that I did the gray Scotchbrite trick on the back of the neck...it's pretty decent. See, this is how I ended up with a closet full of cheap guitars 😉
I bought that one also with the intention of routing for a b bender. It was the cheapest T style on Amazon, only $20 more than a tele body. If I effed it up no worries. I through the saddles away and replaced, recut the nut, adjusted the truss rod. My travel guitar project didn’t get finished so I pulled the neck & wrapped it in a beach towel. It was the perfect guitar for a three week trip to Mexico, I played almost every day and made more progress than the last year. Best $77 I have wasted in years. I will probably take it to Burning Man, almost a month on the road with pre-event & post event shifts and a few side quests to break up the drive

The switch on the back panel allows you to choose between tube or SS rectification. I haven’t tried it yet to see how it affects the power tube bias. The wiring looks okay, but with a 5AR4 recto I really don’t see the benefit.
what's going on with the rectification circuit ? 4 diode bridge using a tube base ?
I'm not an expert - but not sure I've seen the likes of that before.

I got the itch to build a few more knives so I was going to update the 2" X 72" belt grinder I built back in 1994 or '95, but after I thought about it, and looked at my steel pile, I decided to build an all-new 2" X 72" belt grinder.

I also had a nice 2 HP DC motor and SCR controller just sitting idle - perfect power for a heavy-duty belt grinder.

Lots of cutting, drilling, and tapping !!!

edit - and a little bit of welding!

Here's a picture of some primer being sprayed on the parts -

We have a nice run of weather right now - no rain predicted for a few more days.

Should have plenty of time to get a couple of finish coats on it tomorrow.
