Hello,
I found this kind of wood not bad for guitar building. It’s hard like a maple, has beautiful grain and color. And main point that it growing up in my country. That’s elm. And I’ll try to make solid and chambered Tele-style bodies couple days ago. 7916FF4C-671F-4027-AAAA-C9DADCDF1F15.jpeg

Definitely not related to elm around here, ours is very hard, heavy and not so pretty

Kind of a funny day, I guess that fits a funny year. I've been pretty burned out about building guitars, did the one classical last summer but simply have no inspiration to build anything. And for the past year I have not done any repair work - I just closed down that part of the shop. With spring I have started at least considering repairs, I'm far more selective and find it much easier to say No, but several people have brought things to me and its kind of fun to be working on them.

The friend of a friend dropped by yesterday an brought several instrument for me to look at. All of the Martins. Here are three little ukes, all of them 90 or 100 years old. I get lost in the models, two are mahogany, one is koa

And three guitars - on the right is a 2004 HD-28, left is my 1974 D-18 and in front, a 1970 0-18.

Guess I'm back doing repairs

Well, yeah not technically on my workbench but on my wall hanger.

I'll put another neck on there since I don't like the hockeystick headstock on that body style but this is the only neck I had at my disposal right now.

I'm really pleased how good (to my ear:cool:) those pickups sounds.

Also, put a push-push pot on neck pickup...

...for the 3pickup combination.
Neck pickup cover had a hot rooibos tea bath...with partial success.:(

Than I cut the pickguard...

...for my take on a Lead guitar.

Some more pickup winding and soldering tomorrow.:)
