I spent quite a bit of time carving the top and back plates for my PRS hollow body build, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. The horns still need plenty of hand work, as the RO sander is just too big for it.





Then, top got glued to center section.

Some more brass cutting today:

Neck plates and tele control with toggle switch for my friend.
again, he will polish those and have 'em chrome plated.

Traveler guitar wet sanded and polished.

Made a test assembly...and unfortunately found out that it will be much more pleasant to play it
had I left more wood behind the pickguard. This way, saddle screws are poking my hand
I could order tray cover for the bridge....but not sure how it will fit Kluson bridge.
They say it is vintage correct....but....

I have had this for 30yrs, though it never stays at my house for long~just don't have the room for it. I always leave it with a bass playing friend. The first bass player I loaned it to used it when we gigged Last guy to keep it for me never used it to play out, but we'd get it out for parties and jams. It's massively fun to mess with. Some repairs were needed before it goes to it's new curator.

Reglued top to body and fixed split in top. Also put a stop collar on the post.
I think it's from 1884 made in Germany.
I just try to keep it alive and have some keep who will enjoy playing it

I couldn't resist a quick mockup. I'm pretty pleased, though there is still final sanding prior to finishing.

I thought I'd do a belly carve with my angle grinder today . That was serious fun, never used one before. There result looked more like a mountain range but after rasping, filing and sanding it doesn't look too bad. Took longer than if I'd just used a rasp in the first place but hey, where's the fun in that? Printed off my (out of focus) control cavity template as well.

Just shot this pickup cover shield in sparkly Ruby Red for a new project.

I gutted an Artec Mini-hum to install another Mini I had that needed a home.
That's what the cover is, an Artec Mini-hum cover, they come with black plastic shields.

Today was "let there be light" day in the temporary shop...8 of the 10 LED fixtures I'm bringing over from the old shop got hung. "Yuge" difference!



I should have my permit in-hand in the recent future for the sub-panel so I can get my machinery circuits installed and then force myself to move all the heavy equipment over. I gotta line up some strong friends for that. LOL (Rigger wanted $4K as a minimum charge...nope!)

Well I got his bean shaped body a friend of mine donated me which is maple and what I think is merbau or some other weird construction wood.

Here's the mock up of what I have in mind for this.

I shaped it to have a lower cutaway which gives it an Eddie Van Halen kind of look.

Although I'm still pondering if I should give it an upper horn and If I should do the humbuckers with rings.

Blackbursted the edges, top, and back today, with a few more clearcoats.
This is 90% hollow and weighs about a pound.

It has a neckblock, tailblock, and a bridgeblock to support a TOM and tailpiece, which you can see through the rear cavity shot.
It has a central connecting 'beam' that connects those three, which you can see through the bridge pickup cavity too.

Dang, I LOVE that. It warrants a song...
