It's curly redwood over walnut. That particular top has been in the stashfir years waiting for the right build. I'm pretty certain this was it :)

a bit of an experiment today... putting a river on a tele....for a kid called River.... our local Maroochy river from head waters to sea.....it's a short river....

found a google map of it, sized it to fit, got a hammer and a 3" nail and dotted out the design...coloured it in with texta for a look.....saves going out for a dribble of blue paint....

might just fill the channel with clear resin and flat sand it off before some clear coats over the body....

    didn't take long.... :)

I'm building some new workbenches for shop #2, so there isn't anything on them at the moment.

Which gun is that? The 50 psi or the 40 psi? I used the 50 PSI one on this over the weekend:

I am working on putting this one to bed asap.

    That looks sweet!
Too bad you don't have some aqua colored paint/or fill to add to the resin to get a more life like water color.

I have a regular and a Mini Tele set coming together both body backs are going to be reclaimed pine from an old building in Salem MA. I might use some reclaimed box elder or Ambrosia maple for the caps. All the holes and issues will be filled with gold colored epoxy. The wood was given to me by the mother of a wood turner in Salem Ma that had past away. I am making these for his family. He loved the Japanese philosophy of highlighting cracks and imperfections with gold, thus the use of gold in the epoxy. Cheers!

It’s a 30psi my brother said. He goes up to 34 max but that is with his car paint.

I sanded it flat with the orbital and gave it some wipes with the magic brew to bring the colour back... done...

tidy it up and put some clear on it next.... probably not today though....

we have a warm sunny week coming up, plenty of time to paint....I put some silver holo flake in the river to catch some sparkle...

Case is done, leather hinges and pull knobs on compartments. Bass fits like a glove. Now I'm just waiting on some pickups I ordered from Jaime at The Creamery.

nearly done... I might wait a few days, flat sand it and give it some more clear... then let it cure for a while to harden up....

Did the clear make the "river" a bit on the black side Trev? or is it the photographer?

What clear do you use Trev?

Hi Dave, I only used some dark blue and greenish textas for colour, and the CA fill did darken it a bit, with some holo sparkles added....... then some clear acrylic over the top..

the blue is a bit more visible close up,. I could have done it better, I used what what was at hand, no science involved..... first time impatience, I guess...;)

coloured resin might have worked better... :)
