The irrepressible need to make and overhaul stuff continues. I've started a repackage of a 15w Park practice amplifier. It's a sweet sounding little thing but so dull to look at.

A new shell covered with burgundy and cream leatherette should look a ton better. Started tonight with a cover for the plain black grille material.

Trim , all done . I'd rather be building a Snakehead but , gotta keep things on a even keel in the home front .

Looks great, Herb. Like Helmut says, that’s gotta be worth some major + points with Mrs. 5.

Time to put a pickup on the Taylor 12. I went with a cheap Fishman soundhole pickup. Going for a bit of the early Bowie vibe.
    20180524_090241.jpg
Mounting the pickup was easy enough but the strap button output took some thinking. Fortunately the hole had already been drilled. Tightening the jack was were the fun began. I didn't have the time or the desire to spend $30 on the StewMac stotted nut driver.
But I did have a 9/16 deep socket and an angle grinder.

A little rough but it got the job done.

Taylor 12 in action. Been playing 4 fat strings a lot more lately than 12 skinny ones but not too bad.

Thanks Helmut . Yes , I scored some points , also justified some of my tools :D

Thanks Rick . My points account was about empty when I left for turkey season , when I'm all done with this room I might just have scored enough points to get me through deer season in the fall

Excellent Jerry Lee! One of my favorite songs, Alone Again Or, originally by Love and later the Damned. Well done sir.

Still not guitar related but soooooo, soooo much better than my last post in this thread.

You guys have some mad skills, I'm so envious.

I do have a chunk rough cut true 2 x 16 cedar about 5' long left over from a crazy pergola I built, I'm thinking of trying my hand at a couple of 1 piece cedar teleb bodies... First time for everything.

Successful Memorial weekend. Put together a PWM to TTL converter for a laser and recycled and old SCSII drive enclosure.

Feels like I haven't been in the shop for a long time...have had a busy gigging schedule. But, today I got out there and made some sawdust! I have always liked the Peavey Vandenberg...never owned one...figured I would make myself one. It will be 24.75" scale...string-thru bridge...I will put an ebony fingerboard on it...plan to keep it simple with a 3way toggle and one volume pot.

That looks cool Clint. I take it she's routed for a binding channel?

Have always loved that song too and very pleased when the Damn covered it but I reckon the version the late great Arthur Lee (lead singer of Love) did on Jools Holland's show (2003) is fantastic - the mariachi horns and strings in this version are something else!

Thank you Barncaster. Such a great song. We play it live. Very slow for two verses and then kick it up and play a hard fast Damned style version.

Not on the bench, but over the bench.

New lights for an early Father’s Day present. Bonus. I caught the old man in the photo.

Lighting is much improved this photo isn’t great. 9FC5307D-9A92-4162-8F8C-C45BEEABCB4C.jpeg

Ran out of Coleman Camp Stove Fuel. California naphtha substitue.

Had some mahogany and maple laying around figured I may as well turn the empty can into a guitar.

    20180529_183731.jpg

Glued up the mahogany body block. Tomorrow put a truss rod in the neck and glue on the fingerboard.

Circa-1965 Gagliano-branded Hofner Galaxie. Total resto on this one; object is to re-create it with original "sideways" tone controls, slide switches, "Varitone" switch, will post pics when it's done.
