    Nice body shape.

The headstock is similar to the "can opener" on the custom guitars of one of the members here. Can't remember his username.

    Found it. Beetl

Is the one on the right tulipwood? Or maybe box elder? Just curious. I like it.

Me too. I like it a lot! What is it, and how did you make it look like that?

You are correct, that is box elder! No coloring is necessary; the red streaks are caused by a fungus that infects the wood.

:D good call, Lisa! It really caught my eye, too. Very striking, almost marble-like.

Box elder wood is so cool. Box elder bug infestations are not.

That is stunning - and perfect for a build coming up. Where would I be able to get that?

Thanks Lisa. Box Elder is beautiful! I plan to do a red to natural burst on the flat top and mask off the beveled edges. It will be similar to what I did here with the black burst.

I got box elder from Rich at rhwoodcraft.com

Thanks....the idea for this came about in one of the musical instrument maker newsgroups I participated in when AOL was on a small floppy disk available at your local drug store. It's been a while....

Wow, some great guitars here. I love the flame Tele, the J45, and the black burst. My eyes have cavities from all this candy.
