^ awful story. Haven't been there, but I've gouged or otherwise mauled my guitars while trying to "repair" them LOL One step forward, three steps back

These guitar straps came off my workbench this morning.. What a disaster I left my shop in last night paint and printing blocks all over the place- Still a bit more sewing work left, maybe a couple of hours for the tail straps, but it's a been a great fun series of five. A departure for me - regressing from 40 something back to fifteen. Shmexy, druggie and very rock & rolly

Once when I was putting some colour onto a tele body, which was hanging from this sort of clothesline that we hook our dog onto so he can't run away (we have no fence) my mom let the dog out. The dog unknowingly dragged the hanging body over the rock at the back of the yard, and somehow knocked it off. SO, I ended up with 3 or four huge dings in the body that was just about ready for clear coat. Needless to say, I put the dogs leash on the other side of my hanging parts now, so if someone want's to let the dog out they have to walk across the grass, past my guitars, to hook him up.

Technically, it's not on my workbench anymore, as I just finished it today:

It's a Bronco Bass to Mustang Bass conversion, featuring 100-year-old wormy chestnut salvaged from a barn in Arkansas.

Holy cow you guys. This is really so cool to me that you all think this is something you'd want to build! The bad news is I don't have a CAD program or any digital versions of the design to share. I drew it with a pencil & paper. Glued the original drawing to MDF and made the template. Please feel free to build a guitar in a similar design. I'm very excited you all like it!

Why, thank you! I may switch to a black pickguard, though. The advertised "brown" bakelite I ordered turned out a bit more pumpkin-colored than I'd like. Anyone have an idea of how to darken it before lacquering?

I'll try my hand at making a quick template for it. I won't include any routes or anything, but if you could tell me the length and width of the guitar, that would be great.

No the bad news is that other people around us will start asking for a body like this and we'll have to say no because it isn't ours :) then again good news, that is, for you. Gonna be quite busy mate :)

ah i see you made your own interpretation, please mark it as such. Please ask before you do this to one of my designs again. If I wanted to release a drawing I would have had it professionally drafted.

Mark anyone can design a guitar or bass, the hard part is to be a catch eye instrument.
    You make them both.

Switched out the brown bakelite for matte black bakelite, and I think the contrast does wonders for it:
