I was sick of my drive pedal flopping about on a worn inner shaft, so I made an outer pin to fix it properly... beautiful action now..;)

had to take the deck off as well to get at the rusty blade bolts with a grinder, then put new blades on it....

just like new..not.... ;)

Loving the new Dobro Hound Dog and have been considering all types of ways to mount a pickup....hang on, don't I have a pair of Lowrider Gold Foils kicking around somewhere? A strip of painters' tape on the guitar, a strip on the back of the pickup, a couple of drops of CA glue, and viola! Paris Texas here I come.....

Thinking if I drill a hole in the soundboard to feed the wire through to a strap pin jack but decide to remove the gold foil later two more holes wouldn't look completely out place, like on the Hound Dog Deluxe:

I have the three season porch table top completed up through sanding so it's ready for finish...quite pleased with it so far. Getting it colored to match the existing base (which is "old" d-fir reclaimed beam wood rather than the spruce this top is made from) but my test pieces are getting close. This will be a very nice rustic look when completed.

Doggone it, getting the tunamatic bridge centered perfectly is a witch! I really thought this one would be okay, but no. I got two more spots open on the test block.
.
Edit - Wait, I think I got it this time. Drill press for the win. I'll never try that with a hand drill again.

Refret and new nut for "Bob", my 1982 G&L SB-1. Bob is heavily modified. With a blue-dyed neck and fingerboard and a landscape oil painting done on the body in the style of Bob Ross (hence the name).
Back in the late '80's a luthier friend of mine suggested using very small fret wire. I'm un-doing that, as well as the crappy job I did - replacing with some standard medium-jumbo.

Screw or clamp the neck in the pocket, put a straight edge on each side and draw lines extending the side. Measure half way between for the center line

Measure from the nut (or 12th fret) and mark the uncompensated scale. Go to StewMac's fret calculator and run if for your neck configuration. At the bottom will be some locating measurements for different bridges. Select the ToM measurements, they will be to the centers of the two studs from the nut

Draw that line, position your bridge on the line, use two brad point bits that fit the holes and tap with a hammer to mark the centers

If your drill press isn't deep enough to reach (like mine) make a drilling block to keep the bit perpendicular to the top and drill 'em.

I have always found the SM calculation to be spot on but I do check it with a couple of other methods

Extending the neck lines is what I was trying to do, but I kept getting it wrong. This time I clamped the neck on and ran string across the E slots to position the bridge, then marked with the brad point bit. The other problem I had was that the drill kept drifting when it crossed the rings/grain in the wood. Good clamps on the drill press got it to work. I think I'm finally ready to move on to the real thing.

Thanks as always for your great information and helpful photos. I really, greatly appreciate the help you share.

I started cleaning my shop today. . . well I tried. I have about 600 board-feet of walnut in my way, and I couldn't help but mess with it. Unfortunately, the wood is so rough (sawn) and dirty that it has to be planed (a lot) to see any grain.

Returning my Squier BSB CV50 to factory configuration in preparation to sell it.
Put the original maple neck back on it, the CV60 rosewood neck is now on the Vintage Blonde CV50.
Love the guitar, but the Squier necks are just too uncomfortable for me and my arthritis/carpal tunnel.

Keeping the Twisted Tele pickup set and the Toneshaper 4way solderless electronics and the Gotoh vintage locking tuners.
Putting the original pickups back in, going to do a conventional 4way system using the Toneshaper wiring diagram.

The Vintage Blonde CV50 is a complete partscaster, still, going to pull the Texas Specials and put something closer to stock in.
I am also going to pull the Toneshaper solderless electronics and put together a conventional 4way system here as well.

Going to post them on the FB Marketplace when done as I really don't want to deal with or pay for shipping.
Hate to sell them, but it is just getting too hard for me to play them and I would hate for them to just sit and gather dust.
