“The Hammer” is back on the bench today. Body contours done, peg-head transition sanded. Next up, roundover, finish sand, then finish. Easy peasy.

Made some pizza cutters with scrapwood from last projects. Was fun but made a lot of dirt.
Hopefully, my girlfriend's boys will like the stuff. But from having watched them hacking pizza with blunt knifes I think, this may bring pizza to the next level for them 😄 View attachment 1051621
My wood working son gave me one of those many years and many pizzas ago. Great tool.

Make some chambers in the body of the Telepaul for weight relief.

this is no criticism ;)
just keeps me wondering why route all that out of a massive plank instead of using a 3 layer body?
the thicker piece of wood and a top will be more expensive than 3 thinner planks and i can't imagine that resonance of the wood will be better with this?
but it is just a thought

You have a point here.
It was annoyed for me also to have to remove all that wood and save some weight but that sapele mahogany is very heavy also it is wood that the owner didn't want amd he was ready to throw away with some other stuff ,to save some space.

These will be going out to their new owner on Sunday once they’re clear coated.
Hermie the dentist elf, Charlie in the Box, Dolly, Elephant, and Train, and Moonracer, king of the Island of Misfit Toys. The train will have two rear square wheels that will rotate via a battery powered motor. Moonracer is 48” tall.

Carved my rear contours, routed the control cavity, drilled for the bridge and ferrules, and routed the pickup cavities.

And then this happened. The six string build only happened because I messed up the 7 string neck and had an extra sapele body blank. So I built another 7 string neck and now I'm working on that body. I already have all the electronics, bridge, and tuners for this build. The body is one piece black limba and it is extremely light. Like basswood light. But check out that grain.

Here are the necks in their current state. The burnt parts on the headstock will be sanded off when I spindle sand to their actual shape.

LOVE that one, nice job.

Today, I spend hours putting THESE two together for a buddy of mine.

Strat and Tele 2.jpg

That strat was bar none the flashiest guitar I ever worked on, I joked to the guy that it made my eyes hurt.

Sunburst tele.jpg

That tele had somebody doing a really shoddy attempt at relicing, and he was going to refinish it. But after seeing what it looked like after I put it together, decided to not go ahead with that and leave it as is.
