I would say, "Being able to see your *&^%$!!! interface." I need a new 2-channel interface. I gave my spare Scarlett 2i2 to a friend last year. My daughter came home from college with a couple of mixing/mastering projects to finish in order to graduate, reclaimed the 2i4 I've been using, and expressed her intent to take it with her when she moves to her own apartment this summer. The easy thing would be just to buy myself a 2i2 Gen 3. It's cheap, I already have the drivers installed, the Scarletts have never given me a bit of trouble, and I've always been satisfied with the sound I get from them. But... I can't see the damned thing. With its vertical front panel, it sits on the shelf between my monitors, in a place where my bifocals just won't go. The black-on-black controls make it even worse. It's like trying to control Hotblack Desiato & Disaster Area's stunt ship. So, I'm thinking of buying an SSL2 instead. I'm no fan of the "SSL sound". (Not that I've actually experienced it, but all the producers I admire avoided SSL in favor of classics like Neve or Helios.) But, the SSL2 has those nice bright colors and that sloped enclosure. I'll be able to sit it on the desktop, right there, in the lower half of my bifocals. It's $60 more, but being able to see it is a plus, right?
