I worked in a drive through near the dark side of a certain city, and we did a good business of that and Thunderbird. Mostly old dudes.

One fellow would come through several times in a night, always buying his cheapo bottle with change (he was a homeless beggar), and rode an old single speed coaster brake bike. About the fifth or sixth time he came through, he couldn't get back on the bike. He'd try to swing his leg over and lose his balance.

I tried to help by holding onto the bike, and he lost his balance and fell on his butt.

Mostly now they drink Wild Irish Rose and other single serve beverages, at the time Sisco was popular- it was marketed like wine coolers but was actually 20%, and several young folks were hospitalized from drinking too much too fast, and some might have died. I believe it was pulled from the shelves, or at least not sold in 12 oz. bottles any more.

I've always thought that Fender had good names as well as Marhsall's Super Lead.

Yes, winos do still drink fortified wine.

I worked at a drive through carry out on the dark side of a certain city, and we sold a lot of NT, T-Bird, 40's of 45, Blue Bull, Olde English 800, St. Ides, Magnum, Lazer (not as much, as it was about twice the cost of all the other malt liquors) and some stronger bottled cocktails- Gin & Juice, Screwdriver, Long Island Iced Tea, Brass Monkey, and Sisco was popular then.

It was sold in 12 oz. bottles in 6 packs and 16 oz. bottles in 4 packs. Marketed like wine coolers, and went down like Kool Aid, but was really 20%.

Several underage kids were hospitalized with alcohol poisoning, and there might have been some deaths. Parents groups were outraged, and may have gotten it pulled from the shelves. Or at least not sold on the same shelf as wine coolers.

We had a regular who rode an old coaster brake bicycle, homeless panhandler who would come in for his half pint of Night Train as soon as he'd begged enough to pay for the bottle (under a buck).

He'd been in 5 or 6 times on my shift when he had trouble getting onto his bike. Every time he tried to swing his leg over, he'd lose his balance and have to put his foot back down. I tried to help him by steadying the bike, but when he lost his balance he fell over backwards.

He was pretty old, and I was worried he'd broken something, but he got up and walked the bike out.

Didn't see him again that night. But hew as back at it the next day/evening/night.

As far as amp names, I've always thought Fender had some good ones as well as Marshal Super Lead. Crate's Blue Voodoo is a good name but like all Crates a terrible amp.

That is a good story about the guy and his bike. I used to drink a fair bit of NT just for fun. I loved the train that was coming straight at you on the lable.
It was not always easy to get, only certain liquor stores would sell it. If I could not get NT I would go for MD 20/20. For along time I (like most) thought MD stood for Mad Dog, but it really stood for Mogen David. I liked the plum variety of MD but they don't seem to make it any more.

To get back to the core of this thread another great name is the Thunderverb 200

If they're properly named, the association w/ their tone to their name becomes second nature.
Fender does this well! I like the Vibrosonic Reverb, it sounds like something space-age, retro-futuristic, though really very classic.

My fav's, out of partisan, would be Gibson Goldtone. Nice touch with their common gold hardware accents, and well, their golden tone!

I like many of the Fender names.

The Pro sounds like it would be used by a pro (other than the cheesy home depot tools labeled professional or craft quality).

The Princeton I think an excellent name for a student type amp.

The Deluxe sounds like it should sound like!

I can't tell you how much that made me laugh, Night Train was/is a cheap wine, you'll wake up with a WHOO! hangover. Only drank it once in College, worst wine ever made. It cured me of alcoholism before I became one. Haven't had a drink in years.
