What's that crazy event or story or such that you did that one time (or many times) that nobody knows about, or have never asked about?

I've got one, but I want to hear yours!

You mean when I received 21 stitches from running into a door during a pillow fight in my freshman dorm?

One time during college, late at night, I went into the building where all the art students had their studios, which was just left open 24/7 during their busy times. I put up a very large graffiti in the 1st floor stairwell.

The very next day, and so far as I know, ever since, the door I went in through got a 24-hour security guard.

A guy riding with me in my early 60s VW Beetle said "Those Beetle windshields crack real easy - a guy I know did it just with his knuckles, like knocking on a door."

"You mean like this?" I said, knocking on my windshield. It cracked.

I sliced into my leg with a machete during my “drinking days”

I was in my driveway chopping at stuff, accidentally missed and hit the inside of my calf, After the blade went through the meat it sounded like a hose was turned on the cement

I can still hear it, it really sounded like a hose or spilling a glass of water

I ended up just putting pressure on it and got it to stop

Probably should have gotten stitches, I’ve never had something bleed like that before

    You mean stories like that?

Yes I’ve done A LOT of stupid stuff

Maybe a couple from my youth but first,
I’ll need to refresh my memory regarding statute of limitations.

    I have another accident story

One time I was riding a bike down a steep hill on a highway (smart right!, it was only two lanes), I was riding on the shoulder

On the way down the hill I got side swiped by a car (hit and run), the car yanked the bike out from underneath me and I slid on my butt probably about 40 feet

I had pretty bad road rash on my bottom and had to wear a diaper as a bandage for a couple days

I had my nose cut off when I was 2 years old. I tripped and fell against an upended thin steel plate. I don't remember it. Still have a small scar where they reattached it.

I had my little finger sliced to the bone jumping off a baseball bleacher in 5th grade. It got cut from one of those hollow pipes they were made of. I felt a tug on my had as I hit the ground and looked at my hand to see what it was. Half the finger and the bone where outside the pipe, the skin and meat had gone inside the pipe forming a finger long flap of severed skin. Blood everywhere. I went into shock. Some baseball mom packed my hand in ice and they sent me to the clinic to reattach everything. I use it daily to play guitar. No residual effect. Still have the scar.

Where the heck were my parents?

Well, if it's dumb drunk things ye be needing (besides half my posts) then there was this one night in college.

My buddy from out of town takes off from the bar with a particularly dirty local gal who showed up in her pajamas. So we (another close friend) decide to go find them just for fun/giggles. Great idea.

So we're behind the downtown brick buildings in this old college town and there I see a long hallway that's lit up, surely they must be in there! From about 25 feet away I sprint to get to the rooms and BAM!!! I fly back about 5-6 feet. It was a lit hallway in a small office complex enclosed by big glass windows that somehow I didn't notice.

No big deal, maybe a bit concussed but let's go find my buddy!!!

    "Yep, he's over there!"

There was a big fence to climb as we figured my buddy took the girl into a small school area across from the house I was living at. I scale the fence to the top, my shorts get caught on something while I jump over, I land flat on my back...on a big ass rock! I can't breath for about 30 seconds.

No big deal, might take a few days to catch my breath.

Wait, I know where he is!!! We walk under a little garden veranda across the alleyway from my place into the neighbor's back yard. Sure enough there is my buddy yard deep in the business.

I yell to my other friend:

"Well I guess he's not back here!!"

We all had a big laugh the next day, I was barely injured 'cept for the giant bruise on my back and if it happened today I'd be dead!

A week later my buddy calls me, he had a fungal infection you know where and the docs gave him some ointment for it. Good times.

Okay I have one more and then I’m done for a little

A previous post reminded me of my shriveled hand

When I was born I was two months premature and had some type of palsy (can’t recall what it was specifically called), anyway my left hand was all red/pink and shriveled looking, my parents had to do exercises with it

No real after effects other than my fingers look a little strange

I actually write with that hand so I guess it’s good it got sorted out

I have a number of stories but my friend Ike put it best. I met him when I was about thirty so he missed my early years. One day we were driving to a guitar shop a couple hours away with two other friends and swapping old stories. Ike is quite a character but only on stage and lives a pretty sedate life, and after listening for awhile he turned to me and said “compared to you, my life is like a carpet”. I’d never heard it described like that but knowing him, he was accurate.
