Due to a combination of our oppressive outdoor heat, and distancing restrictions, I've been watching a bit more daytime TV. I have a couple of reality/crime channels, and I like them, if for no other reason to reassure me that my life is "normal" and calm.
One episode I saw a day or two ago is haunting me. It involved a neighborhood "feud" and what it led to.
One family was the dad, mom, and almost teenage son.(call them Family #1) The other family was dad, mom, Uncle Bob, and three older sons, who were bullies. (Family #2) These bully boys liked to pick on the younger boy in Family #1. His dad tried talking to the parents in Family #2, to NO avail. The lack of consequences actually emboldened the bullies, and their actions escalated. The "picked on" boy actually became afraid to go outside for fear of encountering the bullies. Family #1's house was vandalized outside. Police were called, but because there was no evidence of who did it, they took no action. At one point, Family #1 came home, and their house had been broken into and TRASHED......and the only thing missing was the son's beloved bike, that he had "built" himself. Again, the police did nothing. Ultimately, Family#1 came home from a Halloween party to find their house horribly vandalized, with profanity spray painted on the house, which also had eggs and excrement all over it. The father snapped. He grabbed several cartons of eggs, and, with his son, went to the neighbor's house. They were throwing the eggs at the house in retaliation, and Family #2 started coming out and charging at them. The dad and his son jumped in his truck, and Family#2 began rocking and pounding on the vehicle. Fearing for their safety, he started the truck and drove off. Allegedly, he didn't know Uncle Bob was caught under the truck, and was dragged between 100 and 150 yards. Sadly he died. The dad was charged and convicted of second degree murder and given a life sentence. While this is an unspeakable tragedy, what do you think Family #1 SHOULD have done? He reported several incidences to the police, and they offered NO help. He tried talking to the parents about their sons, and they offered NO help. Should Family#1 have simply moved? Run away? What would you have done?
The father died in prison....so effectively received the death penalty. As a peace-loving, rational person myself, I simply can't imagine how I would react. Help me understand this.......thanks.

After the 1st time the house was vandalized: install cameras/alarm. Then you would have documentation. Letting anyone attack your house 3x is beyond fail.

Yup, going to family 2's house was a mistake. Better to install security as cheap as it these days, be armed and ready. You know they would be back and end it there.

Just keep in mind while you're watching tv, everything that you see is fake, ALL OF IT

Except for the Three Stooges. The ones with Curly (NOT Curly Joe!!)

If you're really having a problem like that with a neighbor, I suggest balloons filled with gasoline, thrown in the dead of night, and ignited with a match. Be sure to leave the match, take the cannoli.

Life is too short to spend it living next to arseholes, I would have taken my family and moved.

Nothing makes better neighbors than distance ;) Find a house with some land...

    1) All visibly leave in the car with baggage.
    2) One sneak back in the house undetected.
    3) Sit in a chair out of sight and wait..... with the shot gun.
    4) Make sure as many as possible are across the threshhold before you make a mess.

I’d get some black cat bone, a mojo, too. Some John the Conquerer oil, and I’d mess with them.

That’s what us old ladies call it

Is it the “nightmare next door” show? Or “fear thy neighbor”?
