- A Two Rock amp
- Materials for hollow Fender thing. Curly maple cap, mahogany body, wenge neck, CuNiFe pickups, a Mastery vibrato, and a Staytrem bridge.

I already have most of the stuff, so can I get some cash back if I don't spend it all on the amp? Oh, right, I no longer have pedals. Yeah, gimme some of those. What I have now, until I run out of money, then stop. Tuner first, just in case.

I'd get a fender 52' reissue, and a 64 Princeton reverb. Then I'd get a cable and a music stand with some books. Mind you, I actually have no idea what a 52' reissue costs so I could be going over budget lol

No gear at all? And the guitar HAS to be a Tele?

I would buy a used Am Std Tele from the ‘95-‘04 years. If I really shopped hard I could find one for $1k or less.

For an amp, I’d buy a used Engl Gigmaster 15 head (usually $550-$600), and an Egnater Tweaker 112X cab. Even if I bought the cab new, I’d be just under a grand on the amp.

That would leave me $1k for a decent comp, OD, and clean boost, a TU-3 with a power supply and daisy chain, Hum Debugger, reverb, and some decent cables. If I bought most of that used, I could probably also buy a vocal mic, stand, and cable, which I’d need.

I could gig enough with that to buy whatever else I wanted down the line a little bit.

Call me all kinds of names under the sun if you must, but I'd buy an original early 70's Tele Deluxe. Preferably sunburst, but mocha will do as well.

I'd probably spend a grand on a good parts tele + top notch setup including bone nut and fret end filing. Then around $500 on a used AC15 with a greenback. $500 for a Pod Go, leaves $1000 for a used acoustic, I'd shop around but might end up with an Eastman J45 copy, or something.

Vintage Antigua Tele, vintage Vox AC-30 TTB, blow the rest on cables, a tuner, and a pile of delay and chorus pedals.

I’m gonna assume that as long as tele is in the name I’m okay lol

By my reckoning I still got about a grand to play with…

For $3,000,
I would buy the Squier Tele Thinline I just finished playing at tonight's gig ( old R&R/blues/ Country) excellent player- very comfy, sounds very good- twangy, but even toned

Then maybe either the recent, new Fender Custom '68 VibroChamp w/Reverb, or DR Tonemaster. I'd probably love either! And a Blues Driver
* basically buy all the ( similar to)stuff I use now.

Any leftover $$ goes to my son- we live with him, and he's great.

Here is Tele, from tonight, on stage floor (left stand in car)

I'm gonna work with £3000 just to make it easy... and presume I have to buy new. (I'll use Andertons prices)

Fender Vintera '60s Tele £839
Squier Classic Vibe 50's £339 (as a back up)
Vox AC30 S1 £699
Marshall Origin 50 combo £519
Zvex Vexter SHO £169
Fulltone OCD £129
a couple of guitar soft cases £120
4x Ernie Ball Cables £80
Boss Tu3 £75
2x Ernie Ball straps £20

£2989 .. spend the change on .60 tortex

Ok.... this pretty much sums it up for me! I'll 2nd this ;)

Replace what I've already got. Some kind of MiM or MiJ Tele/Esquire conversion with my trusty WEM Westminster. Probably leaves about half the budget to try to stock up on spare valves. Though since it's only on its second set since I bought it in the mid 1970's I'm not too worried about that: I think it'll outlast me. 20200213_113740.jpg

These days I don't play with a band anymore and don't play much electric (mostly acoustic) but that's changing currently. I have a really nice recording setup with a Universal Audio Apollo Quad and couple UAD OCTO Satellites and some nice monitors and just play through that set up (Dont even own a real amp anymore aside from a Yamaha THR-10). Have a slew of amazing UA plug-ins and a nice collection of pedals. A Tele or Strat going through a Boss OD3 into a Neve 1081 mic pre into LUNA sounds pretty darn amazing.

I recently bought a 2013-2014 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 50's Stratocaster and have been so impressed with this guitar, I'd probably spend my money on a Vintage Hot Rod Tele from the same era, most likely the one that's the Hot Rodded 52 Reissue version with the mini Seymour Duncan in the neck.

Fender Player HH Tele like the one I have now. $880,
Fender Player SS Tele. Butterscotch blonde. $850.
Fender Princeton Reverb amp. It has tremolo and reverb. $1,100
That totals $2,830. Sales tax might bring it over $3000.

Or, if we're not allowing for sales tax:
Danelectro The Breakdown Overdrive Pedal with 6-position switch. $150.
That's now $2,980.
Fender Weightless guitar strap. It's in tweed, to match to amp. $20.
That makes $3,000.
(Well, a little less. I was rounding.)
