My first electric rig was in 1969. Sears Silvertone amp and a Sekova '335' thinline. The amp had a killer reverb that would shake the house if you bumped it. Like a bomb going off! I still have the Sekova, the Harmony Stella I started with, as well as the '68 Princeton (sans reverb) that replaced the Sears. (Dad learned his lesson from the Sears reverb!) The used Princeton was a whopping $20!

If I knew how to post photos I'd put some up.

My first rig was '65 melody maker and silvertone amp, fond memories:)

Though like Bendyha, my first thought when rigs are mentioned, is sailing.

After brief stint on a no-name ukulele, I 'took over' my Dad's AGS two pickup solid body and Beltone 2 X 10 amp. The guitar was from the Sears catalogue. $39.95 CAD circa 1962-63

    cheers, RM

LP copy (suffered a broken neck when I drove the Fury into a telephone pole) and a no name yard sale tube amp.

Rig. Well, it was a Kay archtop with a tape recorder mic shoved inside the f-hole. I'd press record on the tape deck, which was a portable reel-to-reel with a built-in speaker, and the sound would come out. I taped a couple of little Radio Shack speakers inside a cardboard box that I spray painted black, so I had an extension cab. It was slightly louder.

The Kay had bronze strings as fat as bridge cables, and the neck was warped. I don't think it had a truss rod. Yes, I'd "play it until my fingers bled", as they say in the rock biography biz. Didn't form a skiffle group, though. But, I did play 'Day Tripper' and 'Hey Joe' for my 4th grade class.

I had a Memphis bass and a Harmony keyboard amp as my first "electrified" rig. Never played it much though so I'm not sure that counts.

First guitar rig would have been a Peavey T60 and a Kustom tuck and roll head and 2 x 15" cabinet.

I just started about 18 months ago and bought a Fender SuperSonic 100 and a 4x12 cab.

I had a ‘62 Melody Maker first, then when I started playing in a band (in ’66) it was ‘65 Mosrite (Ventures model) and Blackface Bandmaster.

Sure wish I would’ve kept them (and many others through the years).

Back in the late 1970's, I was a bass player, had an Intermusic 120 bass head which was built into it's its own flight case, a Park 4 x 12' can and JHS jazz bass copy. It all was sold when I got married, had had the gear longer than I kept the wife!

Amazing topic! My original rig was a Univox U200L and oversize Fender Bandmaster Reverb cab. I got the pair for $215 bucks in 1995 at the yearly guitar show at the Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin, IL. Glorious sound! The cab was loaded with Celestions and would take up the entire back seat of the car when I would drive it for gigs. Still have the Univox. I sold the Bandmaster cab as I had taken to running the Univox into a Vox Cambridge Reverb 30 Twin that I had gutted and loaded with two 350 watt Eminence Delta 10s. That I still have and is about as stealth as one can get...

The guitar was a 1993 Peavey Predator in red. I also still have it, though this is what it looks like now! XD :

Very first guitar was dad's 1936 Kalamazoo acoustic, which I still have. First electric was a red Kent Strat that I picked up from my grandpa's junk store, along with an awesome white Sears Telecaster bass; I don't remember an amp. First real guitar was an 1970 Gibson ES335 that I bought in '79 for $450 w/OHSC ... wish I still had it ... played through a Crate CR-1 ...
