Punk re-ignited a fire in young people that was starting to go out.... drowned out by early 70's super groups and big expensive stage shows...they went back to the garages/basements and started again....:D

Just so we’re crystal clear this is the best DK song and maybe top 10 of all time. This is their Marquee Moon.

Kick the tires on this band. Arguably the British equivalent of the dead kennedys, and a lot of groove in their sound.

Cool, I'll be coming through to see my mother in Kinghorn in a couple of weeks, at least it'll be a cheap round as there probably won't be many others joining us, mine's a Guinness.

What wrong with punk? ..Nothing! except too short, being it started and ended with "Never Mind The Bollocks" ! !

That album romps on everything. John Lydon is genius. Their drummer, perfection. On and on. And on.

I don't know how they referred to themselves but to me they weren't punk. Partly because I think punk was tied to certain times and places and they were outside that. Partly that they seemed to have absorbed the rules of punk but trimmed off the quirky/ anarchic/ DIY edges that made acts so individual ( the X Ray Spex videos posted above as case in point). And partly that it just seems insulting to musicians who were trying to make their own mark in the world as if all they were doing was some sort of revivalist or punk re-enactment society. Green Day did seem to accept that the world had moved on a little since 1977.

The Sex Pistols are to the Ramones what the Monkees are to the Beatles.
