I’m always fascinated to learn what folk called their first band. I can’t seem to dredge up my own first band’s name at the moment, if it comes to me I will share, honest. I do remember giving my mates half a page of suggestions and getting them all shot down in flames, it was probably for the best.

My high school bands were called "Enertia" and "East of the Orient"

We were very clever 14 year olds.

In high school, it died after three practices - The Five Aces.

First real band was Special Guest. Stupid, but I joined after they were already together.

    Minded.

Worst name ever but those were fun times, early 2002 in high school. I think the story goes myself and a friend were going back and forth with band name ideas and we came up with Absent Minded. Then one of us said “how about Absent?” And the other said “how about Minded?”

Can’t recall who gets the credit for that genius name, but we changed our name about a year later.

We were hard rocking lads and interestingly, only played one Beatles tune-'Back in the USSR.'

Its a real word - look it up. It was one of those "flip through the dictionary and the first thing you point to is your band name". We did a Go Go's song (female singer) at a school talent show and then broke up.

We actually played everything from 50’s to 70’s rock, to Waylon & Wille, to AC/DC. Our total song list included around 150 songs. That was back in the day of doing 4 sets a night. You usually didn’t even start playing until 10 o’clock and would finish up around 2 a.m. I couldn’t do that now.

If we played in bars, it was country/country rock/50’s through 70’s rock. If we played at high school homecomings or proms, it was mostly rock and rock ballads.

I started playing drums in this band my junior year of high school and we played out 3-4 nights per week for about 5 years. I ended up moving away due to a new job. We had a blast and definitely kept busy.

Y'all came up with some pretty cool names for a first band.

Mine was Vital Red from 1987. We played synth pop exclusively -- not a guitar in sight. What can I say, it was the 80s!

Burnin' Pork Truck. First paying gig was opening for Gregory Dean and the Bubbamatics on a Thursday night at the Star Bar in Atlanta, Georgia...1994 or thereabout.
