I’m trying out different strings on my new telecaster. Ordered some GHS, but right now I have Fender bullets 9’s and I like them. Wondering what y’all use.

20200911_185632.jpg I like these quite a bit. I have them on both my Tele, Esquire, & also my 335. I may go up to 11's on the 335, though.

I've always been a fan of Dean Markley. I often use Ernie Ball or Fender strings too because they're relatively inexpensive.

I use different strings for different projects after years of evaluating the string dynamics of different strings. For general use I keep Super Slinky's around.

Heavy bottomed 11s (11–52, 11–54, or 11–56, sometimes with a wound G – various Ernie Ball or D'Addario sets) on two of my Esquires.

Heavy bottomed 10s (Skinny Top Heavy Bottom) on my other Esquire (the one with the Kahler and Hipshot).

Straight 10s (Regular Slinky) on my ASAT Classic and my AV '58.

Heavy bottomed 9s (Hybrid Slinky) on my Aerodyne Tele.

Straight 9s (Super Slinky) on my Jimmy Page Mirror Tele.

Fender 150 nickel 10-46. Sometimes I'll get 11s just for variety.

Ultra über-cheap "Musician's Gear" 10's on this one I just assembled but I will put GHS boomer 11's on to see whether I can get away with not trying to take out the back-bow. It may forever be a work in progress.

I started using these D’Addario NYXL strings and like them a lot. They use some sort of higher carbon steel that seems to keep them brighter for longer. I change strings about half as often with them. Which is good because they’re twice as expensive! I guess I’m just a specific sort of fool.

Oh, as far as gauges, I go 10-52 on my CIJ TC-72, and regular old 10-46 on my ASAT Special. Heavier strings for the vintage radius and frets on the TC-72, a little lighter for the modern neck shape on the ASAT.

10-52 on my Casino because of the shorter scale.

    D’Addario XL’s, 10-46 on most guitars, 11-49 on a couple.

    And sometimes I use Elixrs.

    Guitar strings. ;)

Seriously, I have used D'Addario 10's for over 30 years. Always liked them. In the last 2 or 3 years I have tried GHS and Ernie Ball's when I found them cheap. I like them just fine too.

Right now I have a set of EB's on one Tele, D'Addario's on another, and GHS on the third. I get about the same performance out of those 3 brands, so I get whichever one is on sale.

I've been running Ernie Ball 008s, but I think I'm going to step back up to 009s next time.

I like the uber-rubbery feel of the 008s, but I think it's just a bit easier to play chords in tune on my Tele with 009s. It's funny, because the 008s are perfect on my Strat.

Stock D'Addario 9's it came with, once those get old I'll change to DR Pure Blues 9's.

    Got these to try out.

Just got a box of each of these as I am likely moving in this direction due to arthritis in my hands :(
