    .

Build a 2x72in belt grinder for making custom knives. How to videos galore on youtube. At least sharpen your lawn mower blades with it.

First example on the list is linked... You can source the wheels and bearing kits on Amazon for $30-$60 per set and build the rest out of lumber and a few angle steel bits.

Purchasing a ready-made belt grinder runs from MIM to MIA prices.

With the variable speed motor you could use it to power a spit roast to barbecue a whole pig. I did this many years ago. I used a similar type of motor from a defunct asphalt pump from my pipe coating days. A few lengths of 1/2" pipe and T joints, clear out the kids sand pit and your good to go. :D

There seems to be a few cool buffing machine builds going on right now, and that variable speed option would be a great advantage there.

Yes there's cooper in it but not enough to make it worth your while to dig it out.

Hey if somebody wants this thing it's yours if you pay shipping....which would probably be a fortune and entirely not worth it. It would be hilarious to see one of you build some contraption with it though.

I have 2 milling machines powered by treadmill motors as well as a largeish tumbler/polisher.

If you had the rest it likely could be made into a large belt sander.

This idea is the best. I'd run with it.

3 hp for a treadmill? That seems like really a LOT. Like maybe a treadmill for an elephant...LOL. I’m thinking the average human treadmill would be more like 0.3...3 HP would make a decent table saw (contractor style). Heck, Delta makes a cabinet table saw at 3 hp (https://deltamachinery.com/products/table-saws/36-L352). Certainly, a decent sized belt sander is well in reach.

If you really have 3 hp, you could make LOTS of things.
