    Hi guys,
    I want to make a recording of the flipper themesong. Sorry for sounding stupid, but is that a 3/4 or 6/8 Or what? It will sound like underwater spacesurf- music I hope.....

    Yeah, 3/4 time.

    The way I tell the difference is in the accent of the beats. The 1 is emphasized in each measure of 3/4 (ONE two three ONE two three).

    In 6/8 time, beats 1, 3, 5 are emphasized (sounding like three 8th notes), or beats 1 and 4 (sounding like pairs of triplets) are emphasized.

    There may be other/better ways to do this, but this is what works for me.

    My Papa’s Waltz
    BY THEODORE ROETHKE

    The whiskey on your breath
    Could make a small boy dizzy;
    But I hung on like death:
    Such waltzing was not easy.

    We romped until the pans
    Slid from the kitchen shelf;
    My mother’s countenance
    Could not unfrown itself.

    The hand that held my wrist
    Was battered on one knuckle;
    At every step you missed
    My right ear scraped a buckle.

    You beat time on my head
    With a palm caked hard by dirt,
    Then waltzed me off to bed
    Still clinging to your shirt.

    Edit: @BigDaddyLH, my "like" didn't mean I grokked the comment. It meant that I was awaiting your explanation. It seems to sing OK that way. . .not that I can read music and sing any more.

    The sheet music has the chord F, G7 and C. It's in C. For some reason, the key signature is in one sharp.

    Ah, so. And they keep flatting that F# in the score. . . .

    They slip one in measure 10. Passing B major chord for barbershop harmony.
