This site will calculate the sunrise/sunset for you location and do it vary accurately.

If you snoop around you can also find the nautical definitions of all things related to darkness, twilight, and day.

    US Naval Observatory

The sun popped up at 0544 today in beautiful downtown My Fair City.

By the way, the TV weather guys' sunrise/sunset times are generally not very accurate for any location other than where the calculations were based.

Today's sunrise for the small town 10 miles NNW of here was 0543.

There can be much variation over the area served by even the smallest broadcast stations.

Sunrise in Gloucester UK tomorrow is 5.15am. I'll just be rolling back into the yard in the truck and preparing to go home, all being well. I like this time of year ... on a nice morning it's almost worth being up all night just to watch the sun come up.

Osaka: 4:55. We live in a valley, and the sun actually hits our house quite a bit later than that.

We don't have sunrise down under, but the magpies push the low cloud up off the earth every day until the sun breaks through. Tomorrow that will be at 6:22 EST.

You know whats been bugging me? Real magpies don't look anything like the cartoon ones. Why is that?

If your sunrise isn't usually till tomorrow, then your always in the dark?

We have a sunrise every morning, it doesn't procrastinate here.

Mostly but not all countries/time zones do that. Local time.

Sunrise depends mostly on how far north (or south) you are, and then how far west (or east) you are from your time zone point of reference (GMT=0°W).
Our UK winter time /is/ GMT/UTC.
    Right here we are 51.4009° N, 1.3235° W
Sunrise was 05:14 BST today 15 May 2013
