It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

    I don’t hate it.

If I were to pick up a used one, cheap, I’d do it.

It doesn’t look like it serves a purpose. It looks contrived and a bit silly. I expect the marketing department might have something to do with the design. Whatever, it’s a no.

I’m usually super open minded about Fender doing new and different things. I’m not a traditionalist at all. I see pretty much every change they’ve ever made to modernize their instruments as a definite improvement. I’ve defended just about everything from them.

    But that’s just plain ugly.

I rather like the new Fender Japan “F” hole look myself. I never liked the long and skinny “f” hole on Thinlines. I don’t need another guitar but if one found it’s way to the used wall I wouldn’t be put off by it.

Large brand identifiers on products? This is nothing new. Mercedes has a huge star in the grille with an option to illuminate it. Polo has polo shirts and sweaters with Polo logos bigger than my wife’s left breast. She bought one of each in colors way less cool than these Japanese Thinlines. What about that huge “E” on the Epiphone pickguard? I don’t really like it. My eyesight isn’t what it once was. It looks like a huge Euro.

When I was working, I travelled pretty regularly to Japan. I never thought a MIJ was better than a MIA. This one’s sure unique. Oh well. You can’t turn back time and at this stage of my life I wouldn’t want to. Id probably make a bigger mess than I did back then.

awwww, c'mon - I like that. (both of 'em)
If they were really doing their job the entire resonator cover would be decorated w/ little F's as well...

Remember when you could buy a Mexican Tele for $300? Now they make 'em in Vinteraland and charge you a grand.

I'll buy used or build my own, thanks.

As a buyer/seller of many used guitars I don’t choose guitars which people say “not for me”. That’s my why not.

I like those, but it would certainly look strange to me if there were only one, or if they were identical on both sides.

Maybe if two of those f-holes were on a resonator instead?
