I have been using Earnie Ball 10's for years, but I may be in a string rut.
9s bright wires started when they did not have dean Markleys and they don't break as easy.
On my Teles, 9.5. Used D’Addario XLs for years, then when I bought my new Tele this January I decided to try Ernie Ball Primo Slinkys on it to try something new. Felt nice, sounded good. Just swapped strings back to the XLs since that’s what I had on hand, so feeling them out to see which I prefer.
I will say I had to open a second pack of XLs this change because the first pack I opened had a faulty D string that was missing about a 1/3 of its winds. That kinda sucked.
Ernie ball 11's on my tele. 10's on my sheraton and strat
I have a whole giant thing of different strings. I don’t know what all is in there.
I've gone a bit lighter in recent years, and am using the D'Addario 9.5 set. Seems like a perfect compromise between .009s and .010s. Imagine that!
D’Addario .011-.015-.019-.028-.037-.050. Can’t remember the set number off the top of my head but the slightly heavier B and G and slightly lighter A compared to the usual 11 set seems more balanced on my Squier Bullet Special, which is about all I play, guitar-wise, at the moment.
My Squier P-bass uses D’Addario chrome flatwounds, .045-.100.
My old lap steel got restrung with a bunch of leftover single strings that were almost the right gauge when I decided to try B11 tuning last year. It probably goes from about .038-.015, but I can’t remember exactly. It’s in the ballpark. But I’ll have to figure it out soon because those old strings have got the stank.
Whatever is on sale.
Mostly Ernie Ball but I use all sorts of gauges depending on scale and what tuning the instrument is in. 9-42 up to 13-62 for C standard
Always 9-46 on the Tele, right now Dunlop, thinking of moving to 9.5 though
I often use:
Ernie Ball 8-38, 9-42
Dean Markley 9-42
It depends on the guitar and what I'm doing with it.
D’Addario 10s on my regular teles and 12s on my jazz Tele.
Ernie Ball 10’s fit me the best.
Reverend Willy G’s Mexican Lottery, gauge 9...
Whrn I run out of those (they don’t make em any more), I’ll probably switch to the new Dunlop Billy Gibbons signature strings and see if I like them.
I like Daddario XL’s too...
I've used nothing but Elixir strings on all of my guitars for years. They provide great sound and feel. I use 10s on electric guitars and 12s on acoustics.
D'Addario Chromes 10s
stringjoy 8s, 11s on the acoustic
D'Addario XL's on most of the electrics 10-46 with wound 3rd. For my Gretsch G6120 11-49 with wound 3rd.
D’Addario XL nickel wound 10s on the tele, 11s on the jazzmaster.
Flat wound Chromes 50-105s for Pbass, which I highly recommend.
