What splitter do I need?

I have a Dunlop volume pedal that I also use as an expression pedal for two different other pedals. I use a TRS balanced cable, which as I understand is necessary to use one cable between the expression and the expresso.

I want to try using a splitter (and the appropriate extra cables) to hook up the expression pedal to both other pedals simultaneously (rather than have to switch one cable back and forth). I doubt I'll use both other pedals at once so I don't think that will be an issue.

Will any 1/4" splitter (and the same type of cables) do, per does the splitter need to be as special as the cable?

I don't think a splitter cable will work, not even a TRS one. The problem is that expression pedal jacks on the target effects source a voltage which is in turn controlled by the pot in the expression pedal. If you hook TWO target pedals together with a Y-cord, you'll be shorting their voltage sources together, which may or may not work, and may or may not cause damage.

It might be possible to make a passive splitter box with 3 stereo jacks that would do the job, but you'd need to know the details of how each effect was wired. There are also active expression-splitter boxes made for just this purpose, but I'm not familiar with exactly who makes them.

I also believe Electro-Harmonix make an expression pedal with two jacks for two different pedals.

Turns out what I need is more a "switcher" than a "splitter". There are lots of people selling boxes with one TRS input and two outputs, and all you need to do is stomp the switch to change which pedal is getting expressed.
