    What’s a “gig”? :D

FWIW, when I play what passes for a gig, I won’t go home until I’ve played one or all of the following:

    I Like Trains
    Freight Train (both Fred Eaglesmith)
    24 Frames (Jason Isbell)
    Dead and Gone (me)
    My Guitar (me)

Not usually all of them, because I’m not often allowed to play that long. :(

Folsom Prison Blues. There's something about the intro that is just right.

We used “Hey, Joe” as a warmup or a mashup (our version/arrangement) of Green Onions/Help Me

Surreal—Changing station-wagon wheel, outside club named wagon wheel, while wagon wheel played on stage, and movie wagon wheel is playing with the sound turned down on the TVs.

God Save The Anarchy ( yes, a mash-up of predictability )
    So What ( Anti-Nowhere League )
    Strychnine ( The Sonics )
    Rumble ( Link Wray )

Any two of the above would always feature.

She Does It Right ( Dr Feelgood ) Played with sufficient attitude, it's a punk song. I did get accused of playing to a backing track once. There's no way that sound comes from one guitar. Guess Ol' Neckbeered had never watched Wilko or Mick playing then.

Of our own I'd always have fun with a scathing social commentary song of ours which we set to 'Whole Lotta Love', sped up to half light speed, and during the solo, I'd break in to 'Miserlou' for a laugh.
Another fun one of ours dealt with a subject I'll not mention here, and how the perpetrators live amongst us, and when they're caught, medieval tortures should be visited upon their writhing carcasses. Neither of those two have titles suitable for a family audience.

I was always keen to drop in a DK song if time permitted. 'Kill The Poor', 'Police Truck', 'To Drunk To Snuggle', 'Holiday In Cambodia', or 'Moon Over Marin'

We may not have been good enough to turn goat urine into petrol, but middle aged punks like seeing middle aged punks mixing up new stuff with the songs of our distant, rose-tinted youth. I miss it.

ps. 'Eighties' by Killing Joke is a good one to launch into after a few bars of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'

I was listening to Satisy Suzie last night and asking myself why I've never played it in a band

We did originals but every once in a while we'd break out Dreams I'll never see (Hatchet version).

    Time/Breathe- Pink Floyd
    Chance-Big Country
    Main St-Bob Seger
    Selection of early Who/Small Faces/Dr Feelgood/Animals/Free

Absolutely no interest in going down the Mustang Sally/Brown eyed girl route, we will dedicate a song from the set to someone if they want but we don't do specific requests.

I don't gig and enjoy playing Mustang Sally. It's classic soul blues, easy to play, and less easy to with play with the precision it needs.

I don't give a damn what the pop culture, must-be-obeyed, arbiters of taste think about any song.
