Well, it just so happens I had to give this one some thought last year, due to a very ugly type of cancer which, thank God and a whole bunch of doctors and nurses, I actually recovered from----7 months cancer-free and feeling good so far!

But anyway, in no particular order:

"I Think It's Gonna Work Out Fine"----Ry Cooder, his instrumental version of an Ike & Tina song.

"Jesus Gave Me Water"----Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers

"The Sunny Side of Life"----The Blue Sky Boys

Also, probably the andante from Mozart's clarinet concerto as the crowd (well, I like to think there'd be a crowd LOL) files out----that'll get 'em crying!

But on the other hand, I'll be dead, so they can play the "Barney" theme song for all I'll care...

    "Sorrow wind" by Monica Zetterlund.

She sings my home, both in feeling and lyrics. I´m forced to live in "exile" due to work, and I sorely miss the mountains and the vast forests every damned day. She manages to put longing for home, Swedish musical tradition with all its inherent sadness and a description of what you´re longing for that´s both vivid and to the point all into one. For me, it´s a bullseye.

"Frid på jord" (Peace on Earth) by Igulkvartetten. A really old folk hymn that to my ears is beautiful.

Wish I'd seen this post back then. Wow...we actually got several of these played even though we didn't know he wanted them. Damn...5 years is a long time gone, baby brother.

Some Spanish vihuela music from the renaissance, maybe this one. The vihuela was a kind of a lute but the body was like an early guitar. There is an amazing quantity of quality music from the period (mid 16th century more or less)

    Small headstocks rocked even then.....
By the way you can play lute music on your tele if you drop the G to an F sharp and put a capo on the 3rd fret.

Hey Moderator(s)......you shut down the 4 yr old thread on D. Clinton Thompson for being a "zombie".......

This one is 8 yrs old. How do you justify leaving this one open (8 yrs) and shutting down the other (4 yrs)........

    Just wonderin'.........:?:

Good thread topic... I would choose "Windows Are Rolled Down" by Amos Lee... it is a joyful song about impending death, and moving on to the next journey.
