Not the one you think is the best. Not the one that defines your tone. Just the one that is always there, or gets replaced only to be put back a few months down the road? I’ll just hold off and answer later.

My Boss DS-1. It was part of my first trio of pedals (along with a Super Chorus and a Dunlop wah). The chorus and wah have been replaced, but the Boss is still around.

A few years into owning it I sent it off to Keeley to get modded, and it's still on my board.

DOD YJM-308. There are pedals that have longer history, but those have been retired from board duty because their switches simply aren’t reliable.

    The Archer. no question.

I think the Strymon Flint will also make the cut but I've only had it a year

I've got an old Cry Baby I've had since the late '80s. It's from when there was just one model. I just finally replaced the pot a week or so ago. It was so scratchy/noisy but I hadn't realized how bad it was sounding because it was so gradual. Now it sounds like a brand new wah.

My Boss Tu-2 held its place on my board for 19 years. It recently got replaced by a Peterson StroboStomp HD, but the Boss still runs like new. I found the Boss very easy to use (the Peterson has a big learning curve), but the StroboStomp is precise enough for me to set my intonation off my pedalboard.

Boss OS-2. I’m always surprised at how good it is. It’s never what I’m looking for but I always end up getting lost when it’s on. That’s a good thing.

Self built Super Hard-on, which was the second thing I ever made about 14 years ago. The only bought pedal I still own is a boss tuner.

The DS-1, I've had that for 11 years now.

other than a tuning pedal, it's the Boss tremolo TR-2; 16 or 17 years, not gonna change it. Wouldn't be prudent.

Not my oldest pedal by a long way, but since buying it, it's always there.

    Picture pilfered from the Internet.

I use it set to very short delay, single repeat and unity level as a fast slap-back. It's more a 'fattener' than a delay for me.

In second place comes one of these.

Another pilfered piccie. Set just so it adds a nice sparkle to the sound without flattening it. Takes some tweaking initially, and I don't notice when it's on, but miss it when it's switched off.
