Anybody see or know of anything new & exciting for 2018? Tele's only..

I saw an Orange Thinline with Silver Metalflake Pickguard at NAMM. It had Gretsch looking Pickups. Pretty wild but pretty cool. I took a Pic but it didn't come out... Anybody know what it's all about?

What new Tele's have you seen?

Fender 2018 Limited Edition Tele Thinline Super Deluxe – Rosewood – Orange
The Tele Thinline Super Deluxe is one for the Wild West. Treading the line between elegant and gaudy and will give both classic sound and a raw edge to your playing. The Telecaster chunky neck is here along with a modern Hardtail bridge, making playing this a dream. The F-hole is a much-loved aesthetic and tonal addition and we think that the sparkling Silver Plexi custom pickguard and bright orange finish are great touches. One for the cowboys, this one-off special is fitted with two TV Jones Classic pickups to create a rich sound, perfect for twangy desert soundtracks. Showstopping looks and tone to match, the Tele Thinline Super Deluxe is a bold and brash guitar sure to set off anyone’s collection.

Just to add those are part of Fender's Parallel Universe series - according to a video Premier Guitar magazine put up about the series those are limited edition instruments that will come out one per month between April and December. The Fender rep they were talking to didn't give the schedule so we'll have to wait and see what month the Thinline Super Deluxe will be released.

I watched a video from Naam. I thought it was pretty lame. For 2018 we have a great used market full of the good stuff... ok, I'll stop.

That lake placid blue 60’s original series looks pretty sweet to me. The 50’s one looks great too, but the double binding with the lpb on the 60’s is calling me.

That’s my favourite one this year, going for £1600-£2000 here in the UK, you can work that out in your own currency lol.

I don’t mean to hijack the thread, but Chapman stepped up and showed some love for us Lefties with his new lines. Props for that. I’m going to look into it for sure.

That's the one I saw at NAMM. I was really hoping to see some new Colors on existing Tele's & a new Thinline Tele priced between the Deluxe & the Elite. Around $1200 - $1300. I was hoping Fender would make a Bigsby an Option on their Deluxe to Elites Tele's.

Other than the Orange one I didn't see many new Tele's. No Thinlines? Odd considering there is nothing between the Deluxe & the Elite which is a spread of a $1000.00. One in the $1500 range makes sense. Especially considering the jillion varions of Stock Tele's.

With nothing really new I was thinking Fender would maybe offer more new Colors in existing models & maybe even a Bigsby option on some of the $899 to $1999 Tele's.

Maybe some of these things are coming but I didn't see anything about it at NAMM. Has anyone else heard?

I did notice the Fret edges on most of the Fenders were rough. Some more than others. Even the higher priced models. I was surprised that even at NAMM it doesn't seem like a big deal to Fender to display that level of QC.

755A96FC-D9EF-418B-90F7-5F9DD09AA401.jpeg This morning, I decided it was time to “thin the heard”, so I took 3 guitars to GC:
    1. Epiphone Sheraton II (black)
    2. Fender MIM Baja tele (Vegas gold)
    3. Fender MIJ tele (lake placid blue)

...and ordered a Tele Thinline Super Deluxe (orange), eta is August. Cheers:)

I bought the orange thinline and I really like it a lot but there’s a couple of things I wish Fender would have done differently. First, they should have put a Bigsby on it. This guitar is wrong without it. Second, there isn’t a tone control. Instead of a tone control they call it a bass roll off. To my ears it does sort of roll off the bass a little bit but with no tone control there’s just no way to roll off the highs at all.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to add a little toggle switch or something where it can cut the highs a little bit? I mean so I can get somewhat of a jazz tone when desired.

    Thanks for any pointers.

I like the original Fender/Seth Lover (CuNiFe) WRHB that's in my neck position a LOT...it and both get used a LOT, but I seldom use just the bridge pickup (I'm the rhythm player, not the lead).
